Yeah that concept car makes my peepee hard.
Too bad it'll probably never see production.

How can you not be a fan of Porsche. They make great cars.
|

Awwwwwww HAWT!

That's ****ing hot as hell. Next carrera GT?
3l/100k is how much?
I'd bet it does, or something very close to it. They generally don't **** around with crazy concepts unless at least large portions of them make it into a real car...
it's the *******s that generally drive them. I LOVE porsche. I have since I was a kid. Some of their owners/drivers are very nice people, deserve the cars they have and drive them like they're meant to. Those people I LOVE. But there's a lot of D-bags that own them as well which makes me sad. Basically, to me, if you're going to own one, track it if you can, but at least push the ****ing thing past 60 every once in a while. And DO NOT garage it except for the nice days.
Every time I see one out in the winter, I want to have sex with the owner.![]()

I knew I had seen the specs yesterday, but just couldn't remember where.918 Spyder plug-in hybrid concept is powered by a V8 that develops more than 500 horsepower and electric motors on the front and rear axle with an output of 218 horsepower. Combined power output is an impressive 708 horsepower!
Purely on electric power it has a range of up to 25 km (16 miles).
As the engine is positioned mid-ship, in front of the rear axle, it gives the car excellent balance and the right set-up for supreme performance on the race track.
0-100 km/h comes in just 3.2 seconds, top speed is 320 km/h (198 mph), and a lap time on the Nürburgring is less than 7:30 making it faster than the Porsche Carrera GT.
What really impresses, is the fuel economy! Average fuel economy is just three liters per 100 kilometers (78 mpg) and the car emits just 70 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

yea that's not a long list, that's all my point was.. other thing to note, is unless this thing was to come with a 4gal gas tank, it'd still have more range than a Tesla. Whatever, not a huge deal I'm just pumped a hybrid with a sack is being conceptualized in such a sexy chassis.

Too bad Toyota didn't manufacture this:

I got to start up a 911 GT2 once. It was magical. Didn't get to drive it though.

you wouldn't believe how you don't even feel like you're going over 120 through town.

ridden in a gt3. sofa king awesome! driven a 914. fast, flat in the corners, i loved it. my dad had a 914 until just before i was born. yes, even before my birth i was ruining everything.
|
|
I've also heard that 912s, (911s with 4 cylinders) can be had for relatively cheap and the 4 cylinders are very similar to VW motors. SO they're easy to make fast.

my hips comment is based on their newer models, NOT the old ones. All the old versions are kick ass in my book. I even like 944s now.
but in their cars from the last 10 years, and "911" needs to have hips, so a turbo, C4s or GT series AND A ROOF! Any convertible needs to be a boxster. I do not like rag top 911s as their ass looks retarded and I do not like the crocodile even though it handles like none other.

I think I'm just turn this thread in to the exact opposite of the title. A Porsche appreciation thread. Since we all seem to have a thing for them.

when they first came out, before I saw them I thought they were good looking, but after seeing them in person enough now, the ass end is just weird. That ass/front just work better w/o the roof for me. But I LOVE the badunkadunk on the normal 911 "with hips".
to each their own though, and the cayman handles like a mother****er.

^ I like that
well that's a techart, so it's a LOT better. But a stock off the lot (which I see a lot of) cayman isn't my cup of tea, sorry. I prefer the 911s that are wide.
only in white please. Crazy wheel colors I'll take, but the car should be white/black or white/red.
it's the way the lights taper down on the cayman and the way the trunk slims to go between them. It's much less aggressive. The GT3 has a shelf on the back and a functioning wing. The cayman has a sexy feminine look to it, the GT3 a very aggressive racer look. The cayman isn't a terrible looking car, but as far as porsches go, I prefer aggressive boy racers.![]()

Anyone want to buy a 959 ?
http://jalopnik.com/5468487/how-ofte...-on-craigslist
Vintage pictures from them being hand built at the factory. I didn't know that they started life as a 911 unibody. I thought it was a ground up completely different car with similar design lines to keep the Porsche look.
http://www.959registry.org/Factory_Pics/ulthm.htm
The Porsche 959 development program initially began in 1981 as an initiative to find and break the limits of the then-current 911 chassis, powertrain, drivetrain and aerodynamics. During that time is was referred to as the Gruppe B mainly due to its planned inclusion in the Group B rally series, later to be called the 959 for the FIA homologation regulation street-legal production series. 1988 saw the end of production with a total of 337 959s built including 37 prototype and pre-production models, though in 1992/1993 Porsche built an additional eight 959s out of spare parts from the Zuffenhausen production facility. These eight, now highly sought after, 959s were all built to 'Komfort'-spec with the lot being split between four red and four silver cars.

yeah tbot the boxster and the new spyder are hot, way hotter than the cayman IMHO. I'll admit part of me thinks buying a used boxster would be a lot easier than building a FFR... But not as cool/fast.![]()
