on mine i have to wait, yes (unless i want to crank forever). the new ones, as soon as you unlock / open the door the gp's light off, so typically it's ready to start once you actually get in it, and start it up. in that video you can see the gp sign by the 2 on the tach. he really should have waited until that goes out, but whatever. my gp's stay on for ~2 second when it's at/about 40, and never come on when it's above 60.

got it, weird. I drove one ~5 years ago but it was over 40 and he'd just driven it, so no light. I assumed they figured it out big block style.
My old MB wagon needed a while to warm up though...![]()

mine can take a while if it's really cold. not as long as my old rabbit did, but still 20 seconds is not uncommon.

yeah, my only recent experiences are the boat (no plugs just starts, even if it's sitting on 32 degree water) and a warm jetta.
I liked those.![]()

Boeing?
I though these were Audis.

drove an A3 tdi last week. Its a really nice car. Has ample power. Doing 50 mph on the highway here got me around 50mpg to 60 mpg

Any updates on the wagon searh? I'm a recent wagon convert and am loving it. There's nothing quite like having a swagger wagon (search youtube for swagger wagon, awesome video although it is referring to a mini van not a wagon... weird) and being able to throw all your junk in there without any issues. As far as what's been mentioned already, I don't think I'd consider the Audi A3 much of a wagon, it's essentially a GTI with a shorter more angled roof line so it's more of a hatchback than a wagon, if space is a priority then I may look elsewhere. Sam goes for the Mini Clubman... calling this a wagon is like calling the Geico lizard Godzilla. My wife has one and it is tiny, it made my mkV GTI feel like a van... sure it is much larger than a standard Mini and has a lot more storage than a standard Mini, but it still has very little storage and space when compared to even a small hatchback... but with that being aid it sure does have a lot of character and is fun to drive. I'm a vag guy so of course I'll say go Audi A4 or VW Jetta (tdi mmmm) but I'll admit I do like a lot of the Subaru wagons (just not the new ones so much, they've been morphing into suv's a bit much for my taste).
Here's a little whoring of my A4 avant, it has a 1.8t so it is just about as fast as a Vespa but hey at least it looks cool and is decent on gas

Audis are tragic

my MIL has an A4 avant. Stick even. They're nice, but I wouldn't want to keep one up after the warranty is up?

The Audi's, just as VW's, aren't as expensive to upkeep as long as you can do certain things yourself (like keep regular maintenance up to date) and know where to get parts when needed. I've had 2 VW's and now an Audi and can say that if your an average Joe who listens to an every day mechanic then you'll pay a lot of money. I order all my parts online and save a ton of $$, I can do certain things myself (or used to be able to when I had a place to work on it) and also have a mechanic that I friended who just so happens to be a head tech at a local Audi dealer and has a lift in his garage at home that he does side work out ofluckily he also modifies VW's/Audi's so basically anything I need he can do (just did my timing belt/w-pump/samco hoses/dv valve for $300 labor, the parts cost me another $450 or so b/c of the fancy hoses I wanted, compared to over $1400 at the dealer, not bad).
If you are looking at VW's/Audi's... look at 1.8t and 2.0t motors, they're dependable and run very well, the 2.7t is a bit of a money pit. Also the Allroads have airbag suspension which, if not properly maintained, will cost an arm and a leg to repair/replace (on a positive note, the computer can be adjusted to make the car go stupid low and stomp-r high with just the stock suspension... awesome).

I guess you can say I'm a VW/Audi fanboi, even though I know how much a lot of their stuff suck, but anyways, sorry. I do like Subies too and my wife owns a Mini, so I can share the love.

Whatever I get it will be new or leased. I don't need a fast car, either. I've been ogling the Acura TSX sport wagon too, but I think it looks too much like a Pontiac Vibe.
I hate the direction that Subaru is going and there are so frigging many of them here. If they still offered a legacy wagon we could talk.

I am just throwing this out there...

jeff, forrester XT? Jetta tdi? WRX?
The forrester is honestly the best looking car subaru makes right now. 5 door WRXs and STis (same body) aren't bad either IMHO, but the forester really is nice looking, I was pleasantly surprised when I went and sat in one IRL.

I'm not that excited by the WRX/Impreza 5-door. It's a little too need-for-speedy for my taste.
The forester is OK, but there's a billion of them here.
I've always wanted a TDI, but I definitely don't drive enough to make it worthwhile. This isn't happening anytime soon still [we need to move first and see how much money I can justify for a car...], so I can wait to see what the "new" jetta wagon looks like and I think there's going to be a new passat, too?

lmao, did I hurt your feelings or something? And I don't even know why that "'" is there....
In all honesty if it wasn't for that idiotic front bumper cover it would look a lot better. I just don't care for the front end of the car.....

If you want power, get the wrx wagon/hatchback. If you want MPG and a very nice interior, get the A3 TDI. That what I would do.

prius wagon? When's it expected?
price range though? For us to earn back the $5k price difference on the jetta (tdi -vs- same with a 2.5) it's a 172k mile ownership... I'm not against hybrids or efficient cars, but it just sucks that they're that much more than normal versions now? Especially the tdi as it USED to be their base/lowest trim, but now they're going after that prius smug market?
the WRX (especially with the STi body now) yes, but the normal impreza, not so much...there's probably a reason for that? Honestly though, I've always driven subies and they've always been popular, but they've also always been fugly. The forester is the first non ugly one IMHO?The forester is OK, but there's a billion of them here.yep, that's us basically. When the old jettas were <$20k I was sold on paying a tad more for one and getting the MPG for the price, but now they're upscaling them intentionally w/o giving us a cheap option. Not sure what the diesel golf is though as that's available too, but we're thinking we want bigger than that now with 2 kids? it might be the MINI replacement though IF they're available for <$20k...I've always wanted a TDI, but I definitely don't drive enough to make it worthwhile.
no no no, mazda's look, yeah, their look, that's what's retarded?![]()
