Default  Canon T1 versus Nikon D90

My buddy is thinking about buying one of these two cameras. Any thoughts on the differences in bodies? I don't know much about the Rebel T1.

t1 has more mp and I think the d90 shoots faster, I like the feel of the d90 and the top screen.

it's a T1i which was just replaced by the T2i this week. The D90 is closer in build to the x0D canon series though. Having never touched one and only having seen Brians, I can't say which I'd go for though, they both seem pretty nice but I'd bet the 90 is better built? This also comes down to what his friends own and which system he likes better in terms of future upgrades and menus/layouts.

Have him go to a store and handle both.

Ben is exactly right. They are similar, but the D90 has better ergonomics and some little bits that are better for photos, but the T1i has better video. In a head to head, it's a no brainer that the D90 is better, but ultimately, does he want to be in the Canon or Nikon camp for their respective lenses. I would go with Nikon especially since even Canon is switching to Nikon. I've had my D90 for over a year and love it.

What is he most familiar with? I'd pick the one that feels the best to me. That includes physical feel of the camera and how comfortably I can navigate the controls. This is applicable between the T1i and D90 since I believe their so equally matched.

im not sure when the t2i is coming out, but if its within his price range, its probably worth waiting for before making the buy. I had the t1i, my brother has the d90... as far as build quality, the d90 wins hands down. It is a far more solid feeling camera.

I dunno anything about the t1i or the t2i, but the D90 has amazingly low noise at high ISO.

yeah, it's a D300 sensor with newer processing. But isn't it closer to the 50D in price these days?

    I think it's about $800 or $900 body only.
