Default  NSOP, I need your help!

So I had my mind set on a 27'' iMac($1699 with the new Intel® i3 processor), but I just found a 17'' macbook pro for $1599 with Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor. Im so torn because having a 27 inch screen and the new processor would be kick-ass, but it would also be great to be able to take the computer on the go. What is everyone's opinion?!

    Macbook pro specs:
    • Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor 2.8GHz
    • 4GB DDR3-1066 SDRAM
    • 500GB 5,400RPM Hard Drive
    • SuperDrive Double Layer 8x DVD±RW Drive
    • NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
    • 10/100/1000 Network
    • AirPort Extreme 802.11n Wireless Network
    • Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
    • 17" Widescreen Display
    • Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
    iMac Specs:
    • 3.20GHz Intel Core i3
    • 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
    • 1TB Serial ATA Drive
    • ATI Radeon HD 5670 512MB GDDR3 SDRAM
    • 8x double-layer SuperDrive
    • Apple Wireless Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
    • Magic Mouse

I really dont think ill need to? The ipads a good idea too! I was also thinking if(probably will) I get the iMac, after a year or so, I could save up for a smaller laptop(like 13 inch macbook pro) just to be able to process and what not, on the go.

The 27" display is just freaking awesome - I will have mine soon!

The iPad fills basically all the needs I have away from home/on the couch.

one of the other big selling points is that I get a free printer AND itouch, which I already have someone interested in buying the itouch(I already own one). So thats about $200 back in the pocket.

I have both an iMac and a MacBook and I rarely use the Macbook. It depends on where you need to use the computer.

Basiclly I would use it mainly for photo/video editing. Along with the usual computer things(internet, music, movies)

    +1

both are good machines, just decide how you want to work. I can't stand working on laptops and I have the ability to wait to edit at home, so I LOVE my iMac... I think I'll always be an iMac (or similar) guy now. We also have an iPad for away use.
    I own this joint!

I also have had great luck with the Apple refurbed computers. You could get an i5 model for less than the new i3 or even an i7 for not much more.

    Refurbished iMac 27-inch 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5
    27-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display
    4GB memory
    1TB hard drive
    8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics with 512MB memory
    Built-in iSight camera
    $1,529.00
