Hope you didn't mind I took the liberty of creating the 4 category threads.

Interesting observation on my still life shot. Cowra was home to a large POW camp in WW2. On the night of the 5th August 1944 500 Japanese prisoners attempted to escape. 270 were killed and 3 guards were killed in the process. The escapees were rounded up over the next few weeks and another Australian soldier died on this exercise. We visited the old POW site and the military cemetery. This shot is the grave of 1 of the 4 Australians that died. 66 years after the event someone in Tokyo Japan still sends their respects to a fallen Australian soldier and I wonder if it was one of the ex-prisoners involved?

the way I figured I'd do my entries, is add one each week until I've got all four. I might change my images for better shots (either changed processing or different shots). If I do that I WILL edit the original posts so I only have FOUR active images in the thread, but I'll leave the links (as text) to the old versions. Everyone else is welcome to do the same, but you can only have ONE active image per category at any one time.

Is it possible to get the final date extended out a bit - if we're allowed to shoot to the 31st can we have until something like the 5th to solidify and submit all entries? I ask for selfish reasons because I'm up in canada/duluth away from my computer from 5/22 through 6/1.

yeah, we can do that. Since it started the 5th why not say 6/5/2010 then?

So would a car photo I have, that's sitting still be still life or action? Or does it not fit into either? Or do I use the open to interpretation aspect that was talked about?

Also, I'm assuming we can only submit one photo per category, can we replace a submission or once it's submitted there's no going back?

I think I know the answers, I just want to double check.

Agh!!!! I just checked and my car photo that I was going to use was shot at 8pm 5/4/10, 4 ****ing hours to early!

Wait, it didn't start 5/1?

I motion to let John use his shot that was four hours too early.

I think the boundaries should simply be within reason... it's a fun contest, right? No need to get too serious despite the good prizes.

I better get on my non-scapes entries...

My portrait was shot on 5/4 also, but I have others to use that I've shot since. It's not too big of a deal to me either way, and I think we should allow 5/1-5/31 with submissions due 6/5.

It would bother me if you DIDN'T include it for the reason of being four hours off the deadline, dude. But, I can't speak for everyone.
