Congrats dude.

Thanks dude, I just ordered some huge prints of my landscape entry for my new apt.. I have a 16' x 8' canvas to cover72"x32" should do it.
|
|
3 - 20x30" prints, elco color special
20x30" frames from walmart, ~1" border? 22x32" framed, (it may be more than 1" maybe 2")
Prints shipped: $42.13
Frames: $37.87
Total: $80 on the nose
So yea it'll either cover 72 wide (with 3 inch between each) by 32 high, or 75 wide by 34 high..
Panos are toooooo much $$$$ to print in their odd size, but a triptych is 'cheap'

Yea.. **** that. My plexi glass + plastic frame with a round over rather than stepped bevel, is the style I like and while it may not be glass + wood.. it'll suffice for $11.88/frame. It's the digital age, I'm not worried about archiving.. my 1's and 0's do that just fine.![]()

So what are the winners going to grab? I'm really considering Color Efex pro, I'm sad that I'd have to run in 32bit mode to utilize it; however, when they do get it up and running in 64bit it'll be a nice tool to have in the kit. Some pretty amazing looks in there. I've been extremely impressed by Silver Efex Pro.. so I'm sure I'll love color efex.

I can't recommend silver enough, but viveza looks pretty rad too (although I rarely do localized adjustments).

yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present.

They all have localized adjustments now? I feel like I'd use filters more so than localized contrast/brightness/structure.
Value too. Viveza 2 - $199, Color Efex Pro Complete - $299
Oh and I've used Silver Efex.. it's great, but I get pretty good results with some actions I have.
|
|
yeah, I could say the same for color... I suck at B&W conversions though.

B&W can be difficult.. but it's nice to have a starting point for photo effects sometimes.. ACR + Photoshop can do a lot, but masking is sometimes a super pain in the ass especially if you have an action you've developed. What's the point of an action if you have to manually apply masking to the effects? This at least applies effects based on tonality.. WIN.
I asked the rep if the contest would allow for Color Efex Pro COMPLETE, if it doesn't.. then I'll get Viveza 2. If it does.. Gotta go with the high dollar item![]()

I'm not looking at the price tags as much as how often I would use it... I'm torn between Dfine and Silver.
For some dumb reason, I assumed the license was for the Complete Collection.![]()

|
Yea, I didn't look at price tag until I realized there was 3 levels of Color Efex Pro.. but my Complete Edition is ordered
Silver is great.. you won't be dissapointed, unless you're on 64bit, then you'll be saddened every time you have to open up 32bit to convert an image. My usage of color efex would be few and far between, when I'm going for something artistic that I can't dial in quite right with adjustment levels and masks.

Hey, for those of you who won: have you had any response from Kevin? I emailed him over a week ago with no reply since...

I sent a follow-up email yesterday, and he responded that he's had some email issues. Looks like mine is moving now, but anyone else still waiting on a reply may want to send a second message as well.

nice, I might be able to ditch CS4 finally...
oh, wait, CS5 still can't batch from LR3...
I've heard there are workarounds, once I get all my plugins working then I'll see about fixing that issue.
