wow, awesome shot!

I love shots like that, it's one of the main reason's why I want a housing... shooting kids in their boats like that (and selling the shots to their parents!).

That's exactly the reason why I want one too, shots like that.

But, I have plan to complete rig my own grad. ND type thing to probably expose both sky and water, then figure out all the physics behind making it all work focus/exposure-wise. It will be hard, but the results could be absolutey spectacular.

I would mostly be planning to use them in mountain areas though, in cold, fresh, clear water... possibilities are endless.

If I ever win a big contest and have a little coin to spare, that's the first thing I'm buying just to do it.

Indeed. Though it really isn't a hard thing to "win". I think that one is 9 or 10 for me...

I've at least entered a couple now, but haven't 'won' yet.

Although I don't really think they tell you when you win other than the daily emails.

They don't notify me in any way when I 'win'. So yeah, you have to just keep an eye on it day-to-day or check it every couple weeks dating back.

And, a tip to guys entering, make sure you have interesting stories/descriptions, that seems to be a big criteria for them.

Yeah, and the grammar sucks. It's just annoying when, for a little blurb like that, someone a) talks about themselves in the 3rd person, and b) has delusions of grandeur.

Hi guys...

I noticed in Earth Shots’ referrals log that this post was sending us a bit of traffic so I thought I’d check it out... it made for some good reading!

I will keep a keen eye out for www.betterearthshots.org! You’re right... Earth Shots wasn’t hard to make, but getting good photographers to submit was the challenging bit (especially at the beginning).

Anyway, thanks for all your submissions... I look forward to seeing many more from you guys in the future. It seems like you’ve got a nice community here so I’ll try and pop in again sometime.

PS. Scott – I spotted your photo in the finalists of the Smithsonian magazine contest... well done! And thanks for all your fantastic submissions to Earth Shots
