    Default  EarthShots.Org Daily Photo Contest

    www.EarthShots.org

I discovered this place a month or so ago.... essentially you submit a web-sized image for their "Photo of the Day" contest and if you win, they put it on their main page for 24-hours. They also list a bit about the photo, some info about the photographer, your website, and people can talk/comment on the shot.

The other cool thing is they actually pay you. If you win 3 times they paypal you $50, if you win another 4 times, they send you another $50... etc. Today is my 7th win so I'm expecting my second $50 sometime today... I received the first $50 the same day as my third win. $100 in a month isn't bad for a college student when it takes about 30 seconds to enter.

Anyways, its a cool place/concept... I don't see any ill effects to submitting shots and see a distinct increase in my website traffic when I "win" for the day.

Thanks, guys, but the reason I posted it was so that you can submit some shots and hopefully get some exposure/easy money!

Not too much else, I wanted to be sure the place was legit and really paid before I gave them any publicity... the daily shots are pretty interesting too, I check it every day for the most part.

I wonder how hard it'd be to set up a website that does something like this every day. Obviously they're making money if they can give it out, but they also can afford to pay which is cool and gets a lot of attention from the thousands of amateur photogs online.

Neat concept and I'm sure there's a 'market' for more of them.

That is a good question, I wonder where they're getting their funds from. Maybe from the ads on the page, moo.com and bizrate?

I doubt its too hard but personally, I would have no idea where to start. Sweet site though.

Yeah, I think initially it'd just have to be for free until you established sponsors and traffic, but eventually it may work to go to a pay route.

very easy to create and run ... you just need an income from the advertisers to pay the photogs. you could easily build the site in a matter of days, host it on a cheap service, store content on amazon s3 ... pretty basic web app stuff today.

Someone needs to do it. Make it happen. We'll take over EarthShots market share.

Maybe her boyfriend or husband just cheated on her so she, in her deluded notion of reality, decided to attack all men with her comment of your photo. After all, how could any shriveled and pathetic man take such a glorious photo? Obviously you had to have the help of a gifted and talented woman, such as lauren, to capture this breathtaking example of our wondrous earth.

We can have her taken care of... you know, for a price. For cereal, though, how can she possible HATE all your shots? That just ain't right.

She just doesn't get it when it comes to me, the woods, and my camera. She doesn't hate them all necessarily but I don't really show her many anymore. But don't worry, she'll be ex-girlfriend soon.

I added a little note to my description with my winning shot today "Prints are available through my website." I've already gotten 3 emails with pricing requests which is more than I've received from my other 7 wins combined.
