First time i've seen newegg hide a deal too..
It's listed at $119.99 w/ 120GB External HDD.. but when you look at the combos, it's $109.99.. with the new site design it's hard to find the combo, but with some work you find it and then you are rewarded with a $10 discount.![]()

Hmmm, just spent $100 on a 1TB portable at Costco, not sure I have an extra $80, have to dig around in the couch.

Nice. Seeing some of these deals make me wonder about Black Friday.
|

Well they will most likely have a big blowout for Cyber Monday.. but seeing as prices are already lower than brick and mortar to begin with, a deal on one of these at any time is most certainly a good buy. You may not see a $20 off on 2TB Green drives on Cyber Monday but rather on the big hitter that isn't selling out.. the Black. If you could get a 2TB Black for the same price as a green or maybe only $10 more you'd scoop it up right? Right.![]()

Oh yeah. I'll be buying for sure this month, 1 way or another. Because I couldn't pass it up I bought the 1TB WD SE portable from Costco for $100 but have not opened the box. If I find a better a deal it's going back.

What should also be added is that fast, low power, and quieter are relative terms. A green from today is faster, lower power, and quieter than an HD manufactured 5 years ago. A green is not as fast as a black.. side by side same timeline in computers of equal components; however, If you're working on a system that's more than 2 years old, today's green could be faster. You also have to think about your intended use for the drive. If you're using a drive for backup, who cares. It may make that backup go faster if you get a black, but it's not like it's something you'd sit down and watch until completion. If you're using it as a system disk and want "fast" boot, program operation, etc.. SSD wins over any 'color' drive there is anyway.. the huge JUMP a drive makes is really only visible between a standard disk and an SSD. Even a RAID Array with raptors gets blown out by SSD and is a big jump in performance.
Just offloading storage to a secondary drive and running a clean system disk will yield performance gains.
Just don't want anyone scared away by the eco-friendly greens that may run at "low" power and "low" performance.![]()
