Bummer, man. If you're really interested and have the cash I could have one sent here and then send it on...

Checking Ebay, prices are still about $100 above this price. Now that I have a 14-45mm, I'm tempted to just buy a Silver or Pink one with a 20mm, and sell off the 20mm.

It must be a Panasonic promo. It's the same price at B&H

^ Yeah, I was reading about it earlier... word on the street is that they will prob announce the GF2 in the next month or so. Also, there are rumors that there will be a new panasonic with a smaller body with the same performance of a GF1.

Honestly, I prefer a viewfinder. I cannot compose right with just the lcd. Of course, I cannot really compose right with the vf, either, but that's beside the point.

The accessory VF is super cheap right now.

And you can get the Panasonic G10 for even less than the GF1 if it's that important to you.

I appreciate it! I'm really interested, and do have the cash... but I think that it would be fiscally imprudent right now due to some uncertainty in the workplace.

    Thanks for the offer anyway.

I really didn't like the accessory viewfinder on the GF1. It seemed very small and pixelated. The EVF on the GH1, however, is really, really nice. If the G10 is like that I'd say it is quite an advantage. That said, the additional size over a GF1 is annoying.

The G10's viewfinder is the same as the GF1's accessory VF, afaik - so same poor quality. I think whether it's going to work for you depends on what you need it for. If you're trying to dial in fine focus, it may not cut it - but if you just want to be able to frame in harsh daylight, it's fine.

How was G1's VF in comparison to GF1's and G10's, or even the G2's?

I was leaning towards a G1, but, if I can get gainful employment soon, I'd probably get a G2 w/14-42 and 45-200 lenses.

The G1, GH1 and G2's VF are all identical, so... all equally good.

Also, fwiw DPReview just posted a "quick review" of the G10:

The GF-1 + 20 f/1.7 is now $599 from Amazon and I have a $50 GC from my birthday that I was going to use for a watch.... soooo tempting.

yeah, I'm getting close to getting another EVIL I think... We'll see where the camera budget settles in the next week or so, but with ski season around the corner they're very tempting again...
