I guess I missed out on introducing myself.
Ill start
My name is Jaren Morris. I am 20
Live here in beautiful Oregon
Hasnt been too long since I have liked taking pictures. Got my first ever camera for graduation in 2008. Purchased my first DSLR in March of this year. I tend to pick up on things extremely quickly when it is something that I truly enjoy doing. I think I have come a long ways in the last 3-4 months and I still have a long ways to go.
This forum has been a great help thus far in improving my knowledge and skill as a photographer. I know I have much more to learn and with out this forum I dont think i would be producing the pictures I am now, nor would I have the knowledge I do now.

RTFM!
Hi, I'm Sallie and I'm 52, eeek, I said it outloud! Anyway, I am new to this Forum and hope to contribute something worthwhile. I have a BFA in Photography from Arizona State University, circa 1982, OLD SCHOOL! I have since gone mostly digital
I have been through a few critiques over the years as I have been an active artist and photographer since college. I think that I have a good eye for detail, composition and design and I love giving encouragement when it is needed & "constructive criticism" when it can be helpful. I am looking forward to seeing some new work from this group.

Hi,
My name is Abdul Raheem Khan, but everyone thinks I'm Mexican. I used to be Puerto Rican, but that fell through. My father is from Pakistan and my mother is the daughter of a Southern Baptist preacher. My little brother and sister are black. I am not the least bit confused, I am blessed.
I build furniture Amish-style. I used to do slam poetry. I taught it to kids in trouble for a while. I enjoy a good bar fight, but I cry at chick flicks, which in turn leads to good bar fights, so my wife is happy, and so is my lawyer. Like I said, not confused, blessed.
I study History and Political Science at the University of Houston, and will be graduating soon with a BA and BS. My Masters will begin overseas, sometime. I have been married for one year. I used my library as the dowery to piss off her father. It has been fun since then.
I was loaned a Rebel by a professor for a project. I did the least amount of work possible and shot the whole semester. I then began my poor man's kit. I have recently begun to acquire slightly more high-end stuff.
I learned the math, as best I could, first, and then practiced later to learn what little I have so far. My wife is a painter who teaches me some about color, but I am not very bold with them, yet.

Starving
My name is Melissa. I'm 22. I've been taking pictures for as long as I can remember. I can remember when my mom got a (film) Rebel Xti and we thought it was the most amazing thing to ever happen to us. I have no training whatsoever in photography. The only Art training I have is several college drawing and painting classes from when I still had dreams of being an Art Teacher.
Any critique I have is based off my gut and experience. I may not have much technical knowledge but sometimes there's value in an untrained eye!

I'm another old fart. I just turned 40.
I was given an Argus Palmatic when I was 7. My first 35mm camera was a Bolsey twin lens reflex. I believe I was about 10 years old when I picked it up at a neighbors garage sale. I have a collection of 4 Pentax film bodies and assorted old glass that started with a K1000 I bought new when I was 18.
My first digital was an Olympus D600-L. My first DSLR (unless you count a Pentax EI 2000) was an S2 pro.
I learned to develop and print Tri-X 400 in 6th grade photography club and I took two years of photography in high school. Yes I still have the negs.
I study as many photos as I can in a day, every day. When I'm not working or cooking or driving my kids around, I'm looking at pictures.
Photography is my backup plan. I make pretty dam good money when I work, which is just as well given where I live. I'm not going to be able to do it much longer so "retirement" is sneaking up on me. Once I'm physically unable to put in a full day, I'm gonna quit and go take pictures. Call it voc-rehab!
This is what I do.

I've never learned to critique or be criticized. My "formal training" ended with "pushing the film".
I'm here to lean too.
Edit: I own the Cat in the pic.
