Pretty old trick, people have been doing it for years. I think it's rather dumb, but then again, I don't shoot that sort of thing.

    Yeah, that does actually work.
The kids a bit of a douche bag the way he explains it though:
"I used a lashing because I'm an eagle scout!"
then he goes on to use a craptacular knot on the washer....

but yes, that's a cheap and effective way to get a few stops out of a camera. It's no tripod replacement, but it is similar to IS in that it will get you a stop or 2 in shutter speeds. Combine it with IS and you can go even slower...

But if you need 1 second exposures or longer this won't help much.

Definitely worth the $1 though, nice find.

I've never done it, but it would definitely be helpful at times. Might have to toss one in my camera bag!

Might be worth a shot... I've got horribly shaky hands. I usually try to use a monopod or rest up against something.

Neat idea. I wonder if you could adapt the web shooting slings for SMG weapons to a camera.

On guns these keep your weapon free and at hand, but when you raise them to shooting position you press against them outwards and it feel much more stable.

youd have to be a very small person me thinks. When you shoulder an m4 ect.. your eye isnt right up against the sight post, or red dot or what ever you shoot. so you have room to push against the sling, but youd have to keep the camera to your face to see through the range finder int he camera so the strap would haver to be longer aka not close tot he face.
