    Default  DIY camping stove...

I know this isn't camera gear really, but I know a lot of us camp and shoot while camping, so here it is...

    the DIY pepsi can stove:

I'm going to make one just for ****s and giggles once I can't ski any more...

from reading about it, the only issue with it is that it's not as efficient as a "real" stove. So you need to pack more fuel than you save weight/space on the stove if you're going out for more than a weekend... But I wish I'd know about this when I lived in MT... Cool as hell.

Looks cool, Ben, but definitely one of those "just make it cause it'll be cool" type things...

Weird, I didn't even know there were two pictures in the original post... I couldn't see anything, but they show up now.

Yeah, Kiki, we're probably exceeding their bandwidth or something because they come and go. With FF no red Xs for me though... Click the link and you'll see it.

if i can find mine I made one with a simmer control and everything. Its so nice to know my whole cooking system weighed less than 1lb.

I used it for two long distance hikes (50miles +)

I've been using one exclusively for about six years now. I hate how mixed fuels separate in the cold and burn 1/2 as hot. I've been able to put my hand about an inch away from old stove in the winter while it was on high. Doesn't do jack.

Never had any problems with the pepsi can stove. Boils water in 2-3 minutes once it gets going, fuel is easy to buy, my whole cooking kit fits inside my pot. Used it for multiple week long trips and tons in the winter down to zero and below. always works the same.

The little stove on our boat is just a big version of this. The alcohol is cheap as hell and burns great. Don't spill it though, you can't see the flame.

Works great! We cook everything on it.
