waving kitty  Canon 5D Mark II - Video

I didn't intend on using video much with the new camera, but I plan on using this thread to post some of my thoughts on it as I learn more about the feature, including how to edit this stuff. For now, just a little sample.

Click through to the Vimeo page for HD.

Shot in manual exposure mode, ISO 200, 1/30th @ f/5.6 through a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lens. Edited and converted to 720p in iMovie.

I'm looking into editing options for my more powerful Windows desktop (this was done on a base-model Mac mini) and right now Adobe Premiere seems to be it -- but the CS4 Production suite would run me ~$400. A steal for what you get, I know, and I could probably make back a little bit of it selling my current PS CS4 Extended license key/disc, but I'm just not sure I'll get into video quite enough to make that a worthwhile purchase.

I'll also post up any links I find while scouring the web for more info.

I rarely use the video recording feature on mine.

I guess it's because I'm such a noob at this that I spend most of my time trying to learn how to take a decent photo.

I think I've given up on the photo part, and am now turning my attention to making lousy movies!

yeah, movies are fun, but the editing process is such a PITA it gets old for me.

I don't mind the editing, it's the workflow that I have to figure out -- I've never done anything with video, including reading up on the topic.

    The igloos all melted

i used to love editing video, making action sync up with sound tracks was a challenge, but the product was very rewarding.

I love videography. Its is really rewarding when you produce a video that syncs up to music perfectly. It is time consuming but unlike editing a photo I find editing a video a little more rewarding.

Toying around with some test clips for a conceptual/scenic film project that I'm fleshing out for the summer. I seem to have forgotten to enter the subtitle.

My next dSLR will have video in it, if only so I can make awesome promotional videos with shallow DoF for my website.

The House season finale was apparently shot on a Canon 5D Mark II.

I would get one just to SHOOT video with, if I had the cash. Interchangeable lenses and low light handling is something I would love to have on my video cameras.

    Maybe...

Dammit. I don't hang around here enough to avoid the WTLW.
