Default  Canon DSLR used to make 30 seconds to mars music video

I did try and search to see if this had been mentioned before, but couldnt find anything...

I was watching Fused music channel today and they were doing a thing on the making of the music video for 30 seconds to Mars - Kings and Queens.

The parts where they were riding the bikes through the city were filmed with DSLRs and canons in particular. The "red Ring" gave that away...

Anyways, its pretty impressive. great quality. Im not sure what camera it is specifically, maybe 5DmkII ? I dont know Canons. I thought some of you may be interested. I think only the bike scenes were done with the DSLRs

I cant find the "making of" video on You Tube, but here is the music video.

Here is teh HD version that wont embed,

    nice find.

I saw something somewhere with a major production where they had 15 5Diis they were using for helmet cams as they're small/light enough to pull that off and their IQ is good enough it can blend well with film. Pretty interesting to see 15 5Diis lined up and have someone calling them inexpensive.

... not to mention that they are considered small and light enough for helmet cams. Compared to GoPros and "real" helmet cams, they are pretty frickin' huge.

One of the promo commercials for NBC's new show 'the marriage ref' they were out ice fishing and using canon SLRs to film it. I dunno if they are going to use them for everything but I still thought it was cool.

It's no wonder canon keeps adding this to their bodies cause the success level so far is pretty damn good.

plus it's cheap. But yeah, with the amount you see them in commercial use, you can see why they're even doing firmware updates to add features. Good for them, Nikon's clearly behind in video (they claim "for now").

Apparently the GH1's taking off in this realm as well, although it seems Canon really has a jump start here.

This was shot with the GH1 and mainly Nikon glass:

(NOTE: the video is a collection of clips, so they're not all as annoying as the first section)
