Damn never really watched a bike race in first person, just speed runs. It's wild how quick the weight shifts are, doesn't look real. It must be terrifying to actually do that at those speeds....

Essentially yes.
Dunlop offers 2 versions of its DOT 'legal' race tire, a tried and true UK version and the new US one. I practiced on the US tire and set suspension for it. My tire guy only brought UK tires since the US tire had never been tested at that track, which is known for having an abrasive surface. After some research we found out that the UK tire is 6mm taller in radius than the US. 6mm of additional rear ride height made the bike unstable, hard to pick up out of corners and prevented it from squatting properly on the gas so the rear wanted to spin up everywhere. Not to mention that the UK tire I got was a medium+ and I think just a medium would have hooked up better. It was also insanely hot, like 140* track temps - very hard to keep consistent heat and pressure in the tires in those conditions.
