Default  Artistic Assignment #2 (doorways) Ongoing:

The theme for this Assignment is: doorways. This is something I've always loved, lets see what we can all do to get good pictures of some doors.

Guidelines (just to keep us all on track)
    • Photo(s) must relate to the Theme in some way. Creative relation to the theme is certainly allowed (and encouraged). Anything that is related in some way is legal.
    • Assignment officially ended August 6, but because there seemed to be a lot of interest, and only one person got their HW done in time, I'm leaving this one open.
    • Only photos that have been shot within the assignment date range are allowed.[/SIZE][/b]
    • No signup is required, participation is encouraged regardless of skill or equipment level (after all, its not the camera, it’s the photographer,)…we’re here to have fun.
    • Photo size limit: 800px on the longest side
    • Basically, photograph however you like and normally do…whatever photography is to you. As many (or few) bodies/lenses/formats//Post-processing as you’d like. Sticking to basic PP is encouraged, tho’.
    • If you’d like, post brief but relevant photo information and note PP (if any) is done (*Free GIMP software*). Maintain EXIF data if possible.
    • Keep comments on topic, constructive, and considerate.
    • posting finals shots in diptych or triptych form is strongly encouraged.
    • Have fun!

Thread format shamelessly cut and pasted from Satan's post. Thanks.

OK, I'm changing up the rules a bit here... To give everyone another weekend, the assignments will run over 2~3 weekends... So usually I'll start them on a Friday, then end them on the Monday 17 days later... Starting the new assignment that Friday so technically 2 will be open every other weekend...

    Make sense?
This way we get more weekends to shoot stuff since I know it's about the only time I get to shoot.

Same here. I haven't seen any doorways that are remotely interesting, nor can i find a way to photograph them so they are.

Is this the only active assignment right now?

yeah, I can extend it or scrap it and start a new one if you want.
I was too busy doing crap for other people all weekend to even touch my camera (or get anything I needed to get done done... )

    This is all I got:

I shot this completely boring subject last night and spiced it up in PS to make it look even remotely interesting. Yeah, I know I stretched the rules of the assignment, but I don't see anyone else's homework anywhere!

Thanks for the Image help in the n00bs forum all.

These were taken with a Sony p/s a couple of years ago. I know they are outside of the rules/guidelines, but I really liked them, and there weren't too many others submitted.

It was a quick snapshot so I would love some ideas on how to improve it. Including if I did a reshoot.

They are Civil War era bricks (from Fort Macon in NC)....

Err, or should I say "The War Between the States"..... as it was referred to at the fort.

Err, or should I say "The War of Northern Aggression"--what my grandfather called it.

This one didn't turn out near as sharp as I would have liked it too. I got a little off on the exposure too, so I'll probably go back and re-shoot it...that is...if I can find it again.

Since this is ongoing, can we submit photos from before the assignment started?

I really need to start participating in these assignments.
