That would work, but I have to be sure I'll be skiing the week we do that (I should be next weekend which will be in this assignment).

Being that there is a cold spell is hitting a lot of the country how about some indoor shooting. Still life or Macro all though macro is hard if you don't have the right lens'.

How bout more people post in the Household Items assignment? It should be easy enough.
As for a new assignment, I kind of want to do some legoman stop-motion movies.

Thats quite specific.
We could do a animated .gif assignment, that may be fun.
I think teh Photo a Day, and the Challenge take away from these assignments, but all of this is just what I need to push myself. I know my art got way better when I had lots of assignments during college.
|
|
Well yeah, I didn't mean everyone had to do legomen, I'm just saying it might be fun to do .gifs, like you said. You guys can pick whatever you want for subjects.

Next step
I can't think of the word, but something to decribe the feeling right after graduation from unversity, or someone deciding he/she(happens) wants to propose.
Bleh...I hate it when I can't think of a word, it's kinda a positive spin to apprehensive. Next step is the best way I can put it.
Maybe excitment.

I think some more specific assignments might be cool every once in a while. Like kid portrait, pet portrait, fall landscape, dilapidated house, etc. That way we can see how everyone interprets specific subjects.
Just a thought.![]()

How about a macro assignment?
I found this online the other day and thought it would be cool:
Assignment
For these assignments use your camera in the Macro Mode setting. If you are shooting a DSLR and have a tele-zoom lens you might wish to have it mounted to the camera.
For each assignment take 10 images over about 15 minute’s time; make sure to use all of the time and take no more than ten images. Set your lens length for maximum magnification and do not change the setting. Learn to move yourself and the camera toward or away from the subject in order to create your composition or achieve focus.
Assignment number one is an old favorite. If you have an old Hula-Hoop you’re set, otherwise fashion a ring about 30 inches across out of old garden hose, cardboard or another semi-rigid material. Take your ring to a garden spot and give it a toss. Wherever the ring lands is where you take your macro pictures. You may only photograph objects within the ring. Our goal with this exercise is to learn to see small subjects and isolate them into images. (Tip: don’t toss your ring onto empty open lawn! It’s OK to aim.)
Assignment two is fairly basic. Find a toy or model no larger than an inch or two and place it in the middle of a white sheet of paper. Have the paper and your object setup close enough to a window for illumination. Moving your subject as little as possible take your shots as described above. Our goal is to get a feeling for how the subject changes as we move our camera and change our viewpoint.
The third assignment is about discovery. Walk into any brightly lit room and find ten macro shots to take. Do not move or touch any object that you photograph. Your flash will probably not do you any good so the bright room is necessary. Take macro shots of ten different objects. (Tip: for this exercise I like to use my kitchen).
