Picked this up today and holy crap is it heavy!!! It's also my first L lens and I'm already impressed with it's construction.

Haven't taken any pics with it yet since I've been packing for my trip back to Maine for the holidays (leaving tomorrow morning) and I definitely plan to take a whole lotta pics while I'm up there!

When I get back I'll post some pics with it.

Anyone else have this lens and any tips for it?

    Congrats!

...and yet another Lcoholic is born

It is a very good lens, and gets a lot of use. That, and the 70-200 f/2.8 IS L are the lenses I rent most, hell, almost exclusively. A couple of people rented the 24-70 from me and immediately went on to buy their own copies.

Thats probably the lens I want next after my 70-200.

Well, something mid-range at least. Another possibility is the sigma 17-70 as its cheaper and still pretty good.

Sigma makes a 24-70mm f/2.8 as well, and it's pretty close in performance.
