so a while back my sister in law bought a bag full of camera gear at a yard sale for like nothing... most of the stuff fit her camera, but this lense did not...

for the longest time i couldnt find my SLR (film) and wasnt sure if it would fit or not, but it looked like it would, so i hung on to it.

that was a year or so ago.

then i bought my first DSLR which is also a pentax. and come to find out the lense does fit...

what are the thoughts on this lense. ive taken some pretty cool photo's with it, and some photo's that i thought would be cool, but look like arse.

its heavier than hell, and from what ive read its a good quality lense for its generation.

    anybody hear anything about these?

A coworker brought this lens (Nikon mount) in for me today to check out. He's never used it and doesn't even really have a camera (his in-laws gave it to him). I mounted on my d300 and it meters perfectly (at f/4 anyway). I might take some test pics with it later today. He said I can have it but it is not really practical for me to use so I'll probably pass on it.

80-200 f/4 is a pretty nice portrait range if it's free.

Maybe I'll "borrow" it for a little while just to test it out.
