    Default  Asahi lenses?

So, I've heard from a few people that these lenses are OUTSTANDING. As in better than Canon L-glass stuff. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=003

It seems there are a LOT of them from the 80's and all are manual focus, but damn, they are cheap as hell.

    Anyone have any experience?
    Glass is forever.

Please tell me you're also going to get into "alternative" lenses!?!!! Then we can have our own alternative forum here too.... Check out the FM alternative forum for now. They know their ****. By the end of next week, I may have some more first hand experience (with different, also supposedly great lenses).

Asahi was/is a Pentax name, in fact they went under Asahi I think before calling just everything Asahi/Pentax or just Pentax. They probably are good lenses, Pentax optics are real solid. I doubt they're better than a lot of modern quality lenses but they probably aren't slouches.

there's a lot of info on (IIRC) wikipedia about the various pentax lenses. I believe there are good asahi lenses out there. The Takumar and super takumar lenses seem to generally be the top of the line lenses from days gone by for use with pentax cameras. They tend to be screw mount and fully manual. I have a couple and they're very, very nice, at least in my somewhat limited experience. And I don't think I paid much over $100 for any of them.
