Default  Help a noob buy a cheap-o fisheye or wide-angle lens

Right now I am sporting a Panasonic FZ10. Since it's growing a little bit older every year, I don't want to purchase anything too expensive, but would like to experiment with a cheap fisheye and wide angle lense.

My question is: What will fit on here? I know almost nothing about lenses and if there is a one size fits all kind of setup. Do most lenses fit all cameras? Is ebay the best place to get something like this?

    Here are the specs:

not sure about your particular camera, but most lenses are designed for specific brands, and have different mounts. there are some adapters available to attach off brand lenses. Cheap fisheye, look at the peleng, not sure if they have one for your camera. Dont buy the cheap ebay fisheye style addons, waste of $$.

If I'm remembering right that panasonic has a fixed lens right? If so the only options I know of for a fisheye will be those "cheap ebay fisheye style addons" and I agree, the are a "waste of $$"...

    look through here:
    http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&sear...20lumix&page=1
for something that's a .xx something and works on your specific camera. The quality will be pretty bad, but they seem to be less than $50 so it might be worth a try to get you what you want.

Here's one that will work for sure:
    http://www.amazon.com/Tokina-Profess...1510159&sr=1-8
    but it's a kit with a 3x and is $75...

    here's what you want:
    http://www.amazon.com/Phoenix-0-25X-...510159&sr=1-23
but that doesn't list your specific model. Dig around in the first link for one that says your camera specifically and is just the wide angle converter. That's what you want. The lower the .xx number the wider it will be. Just multiply that times 35mm and that's the effective FL it will give you, so a .25 would be roughly 8.75mm...

Good luck, and post pictures with it if you do get one. I've always been curious.
    I own this joint!
    gear list.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll look into it and report back after I purchase. No, I'm not sure what you're referring to as a "fixed lens," but I don't believe mine is. When you turn the camera on, the lens pops out of the body about an inch. I believe the FZ30 was the first to implement the static lens. It looks like I'll have to do some searching since the fisheye (what I'm mainly interested in) won't fit without an adapter kit, which really isn't a big deal. I found this one from Nikon, but it's $250 just for the adapter! Seems a bit steep for modding a 4 year old, 4mp camera!
