    Default  Border & signature

I don't think this really deals with making money but it's kind of along the same way but not quite.

I was wondering about how most everyone puts a border and signature around their pictures, even if they are the most mundane, when posting online. I understand the concept of protecting one's property but do you do it all of the time or just some of the time and what do you use as criteria to do it?

Most of us have Photoshop actions set up to do it quickly for us. As for when to do it, I add it on nearly all of my shots just because it gives them a clean/finished look and so people if they like the shot can visit my website. I don't do it for any copyright/protection type reasons.

    Hope that helps.

I've found the tutorial on how to do the signature but have yet to try it out. It's a good idea.

Mine are simply because my action puts it on and the border makes it look cleaner.

I put a frame and signature on everything now.
The frame is to dress up my shots. Its surprising how a mundane shot can look infinitely better with a border. I'm actually embarrassed to post old stuff w/o them and I'll add it before I relink to them. I started with my name on the frame thinking if someone wants something bad enough, they'll take it anyway, but I've since added my name on the print in the corner to make it harder for them to remove it (basically they have to either live with it, or crop the photo to remove it). I also only post my images at 800px wide with the border, so they're not really big enough to do anything more than a 4x6 with.

I am ashamed of my pottery shots without them... but I don't have time today to add them to those and re-host them.

Mark, you said you couldn't do it for his proofs? Why? Printing them from those files or something?

and yeah, +1 to not being able to stop... Once I learned, I can't even share an old image w/o adding the frame now. Crappy images look better with it, and good images look outstanding with it. It's amazing what it does to dress an image up.

I didn't frame anything until I read Ben's tutorial on it. I agree, it does dress it up nicely and now I can't stop either!
