    Default  Just got another invite!

Sweet! I love giving programs/talking about nature photography. And, in my experience, I usually get quite a few orders/leads from them. This was the email I just got...

    Scott-

My name is xxxxxxxx, I am the competition chairman for the Sandhills Photography Club. I am trying to create a list of potential programs and judges for our competitions and meetings in the upcoming year, would you be interested in either? I have viewed some of your photography online and am extremely impressed, your landscapes are incredible. I also found that you have won several awards statewide and in other competitions.

We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month and have competitions every other month, starting in February, except for December, which is when we have our annual dinner.

Please let me know by reply or by phone, if you are interested in either being a judge and/or in giving a program, I'd love to get you to do both!

    Thanks,
    xxxxxxxxxx
I've never been a judge before though, but it can't be too hard, I won't do it if it's not a landscape or nature competition. I emailed him back and said I'd be fine with doing both (program/judge) at various times.

Yeah, once I do a couple, I can list these photo "talks" on a photo-type resume if I ever need to... I'd love to someday do workshops in a national park or something. This should be a good step towards that.

Don't discount the experience for a standard resume. A lot of people out there (myself included) are awful at talking in front of groups of people and giving presentations, and it could be a valuable asset for an employer.

I think being a judge would be awesome. I imagine you'd just pick out your favorite, unless they require a critique, but you do fine with that also.

I actually enjoy public speaking ESPECIALLY when it's something I'm passionate about like nature so yeah, I'll keep that in mind.

I'd hope that I could critique each shot and discuss why some worked well to me and others didn't. I wouldn't be a judge if I couldn't give feedback, I'd want to help people learn and meet/talk to people afterwards.
