    Default  "Sending in photos"

I often hear on videos that photogs "send in"' their photos to either magazines or websites. My question is what exactly does that mean? Do you just send in the photo with a big watermark on it and say something like do you like it? haha Thanks for looking and Im interested as to what everyone's going to say
It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

You DO NOT send them with a watermark. People, editors included, hate that from what I've heard/seen/etc.

First off, every magazine and publication is different. I look on the business's website first for photographic guidelines, that's a good place to start and if posted, it means they are likely open to submissions. Then, I tend to email (or call) the photo editor with a BRIEF message saying who I am, what I do, and where they can see more of my work (my site). Then, I try to get my hands on their photo needs for future issues. Once you have that, you can use their submission guidelines to submit your images. Typically, this is putting them on a CD, labeled a certain way, with any signed model releases and an overall release attached, along with a print out with short captions for each image. Then, you wait.

Hope that helps. Sorry it's so brief.
