How does this feel when you look at it? What are your thoughts?

^ what type of photography are you trying to promote. I like the design, but not sure if that image promotes the theme intended.

i have a thing against true to life, full color image business cards but that's just me. have you thought about right adjusting the font and moving it to the bottom right hand corner? it just looks so predictable and boring where it's at. the font itself is *meh so maybe look for something with a bit more eye appeal.
YMMV
i'd try throwing that image into this: http://vectormagic.stanford.edu/ i think it'd be an awesome effect/process for that photo

phone number doesn't work
I like it, but i'd take off the email addy if they can email you through your site... kinda redundant

seriously, it's not redundant to have your e-mail address there. it'd be ****ing retarded if it wasn't there. what if someone wants to drop you a line? they have to go to your site and find your address, though that may look good for how many hits you receive, it's an extra step...plus, WHO THE HELL doesn't have their e-mail address on their business card?
i think the information you have is good, maybe add your location too, in case someone in another location sees it and is like "hrm, i wonder where the XXX area code is?"

Okay, checking out your website, I like the BW pic on the black business card, the way the website is set up. And I don't care for the colored font???
|
|
How is this? I will still look into font styles.

Shawn, I'd like to see a cross between the two. I think the second one is a bit too strong for a business card. (Not sure if "strong" is the right word)
How about the b/w version of the original one on the second card?
Oh, and this should technically be in "Making Money" so I'm going to move it there.

the email bit is tough... Also why put the www. there if you don't need it? Personally I went with me@mysite.com when I wrote mine out. I made the me@ thin and the rest bold so it was a 2 for 1 with the address of the site AND email...
Also I'm not a fan of the basic image on a card because you'll get sick of it eventually. If you go that route try to find a place that will let you pick a few different shots, or remove the shot altogether. I went super basic w/o any image.

much better dude
the reason i brought up the vector website was to put something on the card that's not so detailed and requires lower dpi. it seems like whenever a fine/detailed image like that goes on a business card people are NEVER satisfied with the outcome. full color and detailed can be a recipe for disaster, between the detail and colors being SLIGHTLY off...you'll want to throw the cards into a river

i'm not trying to fluff ben's ego, but his card is perfect. 3 solid, hard colors that stand out, pertinent information, an eye-catching font and just the right amount of individuality. plus, it's easy to read, easy to understand and is easy enough for the print shop to replicate perfectly.

I used a picture of my tree in the backyard, ha ha.
Guess what my name is? lol

this is good, is it gray scale or full color?
bold letters against white that REALLY stand out ( just like resume writers tell you) plus the right amount of information. i like it a lot

It's funny how different people interpret things. I actually noticed how much that one sucked (obviously in my opinion).
I'm by no means saying either of us are right or wrong, just thought it was interesting you thought that one was one of the better ones where I would have probably pegged it as one of the worst on the page.

I personally love the feeling of this card but with a different font and all white text and take out the www. This is a card that many people will put on their refrigerator and look at all the time, which means their friends and family will look at it too. Just my...

I do like the b&w you posted as well but I really love the photo you chose for the color one. It really pops and grabs your attention.

Thanks James. I tried to please everyone who posted. So, do these work any better?

looking good shawn, but have you tried other fonts for the email/web address? Maybe it's easier to read printed, but that's looking a bit small and unclear to me the way it's written now. You want the address to jump off the card.

I really like this one. The others are nice but IMO don't hold a candle to the colors grabbing me in this one. That photo with the black card/white text looks great! Your use of a simple font is a good thing as to not distract from the shot you are presenting as your work. Try out a few other texts and see what works best for you.
That being said, we are all prone to what looks "best" to us. What you think looks best will certainly look just as good if not better than what we think. If your business card will be remembered by those who receive it then that is all that matters. All of those samples will work, I just like #1 the best!![]()

I'm not a fan of the huge negative space on the top right of those designs.
On Jacobsen's card, for example, the negative space plays into the design since it draws attention to his name and contact info. On your card, it just stands out as empty IMO.

no picture on the card??
