anyone else have cards even? Any suggestions on the cards themselves or where to get them printed?
I also need to come up with one for just me (or do I?) and or the other 2 sites (this one and awesomeroadtrips.com)...

Re: Business cards: |
I like the second one, the first is too gangsta. Are you going to put an example pic on the back, or maybe a layout of 4?
As for where to get it printed, I get all our cards printed at http://www.overnightprints.com/ . I think Stime just used them too for his postcard. Good prices, decent quality and reliable.

Re: Business cards: |
I thought about that, but I can't come up with a layout or single/4 photos I like enough that would work for all situations... I think I'm trying to go for a simple layout with a touch of style so it's not too boring (the red/grays and white and a few interesting fonts).Originally Posted by tardypizza

Re: Business cards: |
I have cards, ill have to take a photo of them as I dont think I have a digital copy.
I really like the back, I dont care to much for the Photography font on the front. IMO.
I got my cards from Vistaprint, they came out great and will be ordering my new cards from them.

Re: Business cards: |
Yeah, the first side looks like you run a tattoo parlor. Or a heavy metal band. Love the second side.
I got my cards from Vistaprint as well. Super easy and cheap. I didn't need something super high quality though. Not sure what they offer on the high end ... I'm assuming you'd want something thick and glossy.
|
|
Re: Business cards: |
thick yes, not set on glossy...
OK, so this side is set:
but it seems no one likes the other side. Too gansta/tattoo or whatever. I like the honest opinions so thanks. It's what I call a pirate font, but this card isn't for me, it's for customers... So what should I put back there? A photo? What type of photo and what orientation? I could have that side 90º to the front with an image.... I just want the card to be super clean/simple looking with a bit of style thrown in. So maybe the way it is, must with a less "gansta" font?
thanks.

Pricedown is the Grand theft auto font
I like "Dominican" the best out of those.

fixed that for you, but yeah, pricedown is in the least a ripoff of GTA's font...

Re: Business cards: |
Another vote for the GTA font... but are you sure about the color? What about making it light gray like the address in the back, or stroking it very lightly with something that defines the letters a bit more? Other than that, nice design.

Re: Business cards: |
damn, the guys in OT hate the GTA font...
I've also realized that I really don't need my address or phone number on there. So how's this look:

heres mine, was able to find a crappy jpeg of it. The font looks much better on the actual card, I went with a glossy finish.

Re: Business cards: |
yeah dude, the vertical one is rad...i dig that style, things that are more eye catching as a status thing to actually have in my rolodex at work.
|
|
Re: Business cards: |
Yeah, the 2nd one's fantastic. Move the PHOTOGRAPHY down slightly and to the right though, or move your name a teeny bit up. The slight overlap of the two seems wierd to me, imho.
To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.
|
|
Re: Business cards: |
Really like the vertical ones! Cant decide which one I like more.
|
|
Re: Business cards: |
Well the Y in photography is setup to just hit the edge when they're trimmed (bleed or whatever it's called in the printing world...). I don't want to move photography down as it's setup to just meet where the red ends so it runs into the upper gray. Any more down and there will be a red line at the top of each letter. But I do thing the name needs to be bumped up a tad to fix that weirdness where they line up...Originally Posted by BCinMB
Also I'm going to make that my actual written name (not signature, but how I would write those letters) tomorrow so I'll be tweaking it slightly (it's pretty close to how I write my name anyway). Then I need to figure out how I want to handle the email and site address. Since their the same tail, it might look OK, but do I need both since it's ben@ilovespam.com and ilovespam.com??? Will people be smart enough to pickup that the tail of the email IS the site? I'll do some more tomorrow... I'd also love to have the email and site embossed into the card. I wonder how much that is?

Re: Business cards: |
The vertical one is nice, and the 18% grey back is a very cool touch (only photogs would get it, but still). I also like the 2nd one better.
I think I'll be getting some Moo minicards soon (through Flickr). They're smaller than normal business card (about 1/2 the height and slightly less wide), but you can use up to 100 different photographs, so if you order a set of 100 they can all be unique front, with all the contact info standardized on the back.

Re: Business cards: |
you must have missed the thread about this in OT... ~5 references to that very same clip, with youtube and pics of the scene, all at the same time...
OK after several comments in the OT thread, I've "refined" it a bit, and even went to the effort of making my own font for this that looks like the way I write my name, here's the newest versions:

Re: Business cards: |
I looked at those too, but I didn't like having to work out how my photos will go on them since it's a wicked crop from 2:3... I'm not going to just let them do it as I'm too picky, and I don't want to spend that much time... Although they are very cool if you have the time/patience.Originally Posted by SanjuNana

That shows the "bleed". It should be trimmed to just the edges of the text. Can't wait to see them. I ordered mat, but heavy weight paper.

they're not perfect, but I'm happy. The front is closer to black than I'd like (under the lights in the box they look perfect though...) and the back is way too close to white and you can't really make out anything. It basically looks like an off white back. They're usable for sure, just not perfect.

Sorry for the late reply, but you have to be careful when submitting to most print companies. More than likely you did your work in RGB and they printed in CMYK, which would give you unexpected color results.
