i am going to check out the rental place distorto listed tomorrow. i think if i can get a flash i can get clearance to go from the boss.

you need to get it tomorrow anyways so that you have it for the full weekend. it won't be due until monday.

danm, it depends on what you want to shoot. if you want body shots or head shots. if you go too wide, you will have to get too close for head shots and i found that people don't generally like the camera right in their face.

17-55 is what i have been using and it is a good compromise.

24-105 it is then. it sounds like they have two 550 speedlights, those should work, i guess.

what level of dress is everyone planning? i have no clue what is appropriate these days
