Also just to further the discussion of the next place after this, Take a birds eye of Sakonnet Point on Mapblast. Looks like there is an island that might be on a Tombolo there. If not a Tombolo, a polarizer could expose it. Could be some cool stuff. Problem is, parking, and is that private property? BTW, end of Rhode Island Rd.

Looks like a cool spot, for sure! And I just learned what a tombolo was.
As far as where to park there, I have no idea. I'll look into it a little more.

There is a no kidding Tombolo that is Charles Island down in Milford, but quite a ways for you. There are a bunch of legends about it too. Something, something Captain Kidd buried treasure there, etc. etc.

Also after this post I will shut up about the meet this next one for a while. I would like to do a trip up to the Cape some morning also. I would think you would be interested in this Jeff, as you will be leaving in the Spring.

you can definately park around here:
    http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...36221&t=h&z=15

and walk to the point. I'd also bet there's enough room for one or maybe 2 cars (so meet and drive down from someplace else) at the end of that road, but it'll be a crapshoot for sure.

Also, I want to check this out at some point too (maybe scout after shooting?):http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...09055&t=h&z=17

not sure where what I'm thinking of is, it's either what I just linked to, or it's in MA a bit further east, but when we first moved here in 1991 my parents and I drove out to a rad beach with some wicked rocks on it. It had a tiny parking lot as well so that doesn't look like it for that reason, but the terrain looks familiar...

Just so no one is getting confuzzled, 3-14 = Black Point, 3-21 = Sakonnet.

I only say it because I was getting confuzzled, myself.

Also there is a neat looking point down in Acoaxet, MA. I can't figure out how to get a link to a lat/long in those map programs. Check out Beach Ave, in Acoaxet. Just a thought. But I'll stop hi-jacking now. So anyway, unless something changes I'm good for Saturday.

    Next week's objective people

    http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=...cl=1&encType=1

Ben, post up that park and ride you were talking about so we all know location. I think I know where you're talking about but not sure.

Also, one more place I have been scoping really seriously. This is public land, a nature preserve I think.

    http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=...cl=1&encType=1

Gonna be a hell of a walk from the lot though.

    Park and Ride is here:
    http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=...cl=1&encType=1

Sachuest Point is a NWR. I actually have a marsh in my thesis right here: http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=...cl=1&encType=1

I would love to get a nice sunrise shot in a saltmarsh that I could frame and give to my boss when I leave.

Cool, now I know where that is. Yeah that would be a cool shot. I think Sachuset is doable. I'll have to check my wife's sked before I post up a thread.

that's norman bird sanctuary guys, and boy the stories I could tell you about the parking lots near it....

and yes, Jeff's got the park and ride nailed. I figure Jeff and I will at least meet there and whoever else wants to. What's the sunrise info for next week? I was also thinking, instead of standing in a parking lot BSing for over an hour, we should find a greasy spoon somewhere over there?

Yeah, basically when the sky really starts to get colorful. C.T. was at 6:30 today for reference.

I'll have to gmaps the time from heffie's to sakonnet before I make a decision. I'm not in the mindset to do well with that. Mews had Magic Hat HIPA tonight. I love that beer.

At least you had a DD bagel, our Dunkin Donuts was closed for some reason so I had McDonald's. I thought I was going to die, which is why I left in such a hurry

Check out the Ocean Mist in Matunuck down by Deep Hole... IIRC they start serving breakfast at 8.

Wish I could make it, I need to get another real job ASAP. These super-late shifts are kicking my butt.

That works for me, but must take into account the walk down there. Maybe 5am? That time of morning, proably wont take us 57 minutes.

yeah, so it sounds like I'll most likely be driving my own car over and NOT eating breakfast. I mentioned it last night and Nikki basically said I need to be home no later than 9am so she can go running.

    I'm that I can't eat/drive with everyone.
But I'm that I've been able to go to these, and ski on weekends, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

So, who all do we got so far, just so we know how many car's we're gonna need.

I know there will be me and my "other" friend Jeff in the car we're coming in. We will probably take his Jetta, and it can fit 4 of us probably with gear. I will make sure he empties out his trunk.

Here is what I know so far:

    Me
    Jeff
    Jeff
    Ben (driving seperate)
    Josh? (Driving Seperate?)
    Matt? (Driving Seperate?)
    Eric (driving seperate)
I also might have one more person I met on Flickr that is looking at joining NSOP, and showing on Saturday.

Man this place is going to be packed. No room for pics

    Anyone else?

Weather looks good so far, hopefully it will be clear, but not too clear. Partly cloudy will be nice. Also should be close to low tide by the time we're there, so the Sandbar should be mostly or partially exposed. Should be good for some compositions. I guess I will put up a thread with all the reference sites I use for Landscape scouting and what not.

    i'm still ?

    i really want to come,
    i'd be driving myself

basically the leaf springs in my f150 both sides in the rear blew up...
i threw some ubolts on them to hold them together for the meantime but if they break off i could get a blowout and i don't want that on the highway doing ~90 at 4 am...

if i can use my mom's car or something then i'll definitly be down.
prolly decide for sure late friday night
i'll be at my friends bands show

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to bow out for this week.

I have major thesis revisions to make for Monday and I'm getting SLAMMED at work this week so I haven't had time to address any of them. I'm usually pretty much a zombie after these sunrise shoots since I never get enough sleep the night before. I can't afford to lose Saturday. I can feel a **** you thesis thread coming on, and perhaps a **** you scientific rigor thread depending on how desperate things get.

    x a billion.
