Partly cloudy on Friday night after 2pm in Narragansett. Ben, where you wanna go?
    Anyone else down for this?

    Civil Twilight: 4:54am
    Sunrise: 5:26am
Should be almost low tide at that time also by the tide chart.

    Here is what I propose,

    Maybe Beavertail?
Or we can always try one of our old haunts (Newton, Hazard, Black Point, PJ) Or Sachuset maybe?

Ben does Sunday work for you? It is supposed to rain Sunday though. It is supposed to Saturday also, but afternoon is what I am seeing right now. I think Saturday is going to be the best for weather and light...hopefully.

    yeah, no **** eh?

importing now, but I learned 2 things today. ALWAYS bring your tele... I hadn't used mine in the last few outings, and not even the 24-105, so I left them both out and today we saw an egret and some sandpipers...

also, rich knows no bounds. One of the houses we drive past on this street has nice cars. Almost took a pic last time because it was one nice car and one normal, this time? 1 rolls royce, 1 aston martin, 1 bentley, 1 range rover, and then 1 smart... Must be nice.

Make it 2 Bentleys. Has to be about 1.5 mill worth of cars, if not more.

any plans for this weekend? I'd like to shoot one day for sure... I could be convinced of Sunday if it means we get a bigger group as I'll still get to sleep in the next day. Plus getting up for this means I get to go to Lowes on the way home, get what I need for the deck, AND be home by 8am.

I was going to bump this thread earlier, and ask if anyone was down. I have an idea for a shot at Hazard Rocks, and need clouds, and would like to do Saturday morning. I need to shoot, frigging sky has been clear all week. (going crazy not shooting). Also, was going to go up to Portland Head again tomorrow, but again clear. Need some damn clouds. If we want we can do Sunday, but looking at the weather right now it's kinda difficult. Saturday morning looks the best, but Sunday could work, but I would have to wait a day to see what NOAA changes in that time. Anyone have any other thoughts on location, or date? Time would be as usual. Civil Twilight for Saturday and Sunday:

    Sat: CT- 4:48am
    SR- 5:20am
    Sun: CT- 4:47am
    SR- 5:18am

In regards to this thread, lets just make this the Default sunrise meet thread for RI/New England, so we don't have to make a new thread every week.

    Current forecast for Gansett:
    http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...d2=-71.451&e=1

after thinking about it, it makes alot of sense for lowes to be open that early on saturdays.

Looking like maybe a small storm tomorrow night, and might be cloudy Saturday, but I will take my chances. Some of my good work has been done with more clouds, so whatever. Lets plan for Saturday, and normal time. Hazard Rocks? Ben we'll have to share "the spot", but I think there is enough room there for two tripods.

Just for any not sure where we're going,

Civil Twilight and Sunrise times are a few posts above this one (Post #27).

Forecast says increasing clouds right now, and looking at the sattelite shot, it could be good.

    Tyler,

That is what RI is pretty much famous for. Also regardless of what and where we were shooting, it would be the same result, as we are trying to hold back the sky with the filters. It isn't even about trying to get just the pic of the sky. It is the foreground, and the rocks down there have tons of interest there. I challenge you to make it up to one of these some weekend, and find out. I don't even want to here the words similar come out of you either. I can quote numerous BMX bike threads, that up till now, I haven't pissed in. Also, I can shoot during the middle of the day, but due to our commitments at home, morning at sunrise is the best time for some of us to shoot. Thanks.

yeah, I'd love to shoot mountains, but we ain't gots none.

and sunrises are the best time of the day regardless of location, grads just come with the territory of difficult exposures...
    I own this joint!

yesterday is history, tomorrow a mystery, today is a gift, that's why it's called the present.

I like the shots, just asking for new scenery.

Hey it's only a 3-4 hour drive, if you want to shoot something different. And my sentiments are the same. Kthxgby.

I say one thing and you snap on me.
Oh and, Providence or city scapes with sunrises can't be that far the state you reside in is an hour wide.
    Whatever.

I live in CT Tyler. It's about 2 hours wide.

Cityscapes don't interest me. If I was living in Minnesota, where I am from, I would probably be shooting something different in the aspect of Landscapes, maybe I would be up shooting the Gitch, maybe I would be shooting the wide fields and prairies, or many of the other lakes. Right now I am into shooting on the shore, and RI has far better shore scenics than CT, where the damn houses are built right up to the edge of the water, and where everything is private property. The other thing I am saying is I have a wife and child and a commitment to the US Navy, so plans to go shoot somewhere else a further distance away take a lot more planning. I wish I was single and young again, enjoy it, and take advantage of it. So I shoot a lot in the same place, but I try to find a different comp and sky and sea state everytime out. I try to find little nuances that are different everytime. I'm not trying to put you down, or snap back at you, but you came off with a Pot, Kettle, Black, type of post earlier.

Back on topic, Ben we good for tomorrow?

It's ok. You have to do a lot more to hurt my feelings, I deal with 120 mfer's for 6-7 months at a time, locked in a 360' long steel cylinder. And I don't like about half of them. (Nukes)

Yeah I can, but I am on shore duty right now. I have been there, teaching the fleet for about a year now, and have another two years left before I go back to my last one. And the next one I will have my camera on every underway. I intend to become the command photog (a collateral duty) once I get there. I am the command guy at the command I am at right now. Now, what I am really hoping for is another trip back to Scotland before I get out.

I will be shooting this if I get back there:

Also, I am sure I will get back to Dubai, and other places, but Norway and Scotland are my hopes. If I get to do another North Pole run, that would be great also.

5 months of boredom, with about 10 days of excitement, which I can't talk about, and a couple weeks of liberty in places a lot of people would love to travel to. I am not underwater for six months straight, but longest to date is 64 days submerged for me. The ice run would have been longer if we hadn't surfaced through the ice 6 times. Anyway, I am going to bed, I gotta get up and shoot in the morning.
