So if there arent any objections, i would like to go ahead and call March 17th the date.

there are so many things i want to try, i cant even keep track of them all.

everyone who comes, bring any and all lighting equipment you have. that way we can have multiple areas shooting at the same time.

there is some amount of lighting equipment included at the studio i am targeting, but i dunno if there is enough to allow two or three shooting areas at once. i would think we would want to be able to shoot more than one at a time.

I was unable to deliver to <simaria@infocusmakeupart.com> because the user is over their quota.
i'll try to call later today to see what the deal is cause this studio looks so cool i dont want to give up on it.

So i have been creating a list of possible models that i have the ability to contact, how many do we think we will need? I am guessing no less than 4 and up to 8.

We do plan on doing an 8 hour booking right?

umbrellas are good, not only are they nice modifiers, but they are small if we dont need to use them. I dunno how useful hot lights will be, if you want to use them cool, bring it on i surely dont know eveything. i was thinking more like speedlights and strobes and modifiers.

and it seems most of the studio's that i looked up and liked either have downed websites or full inboxes. but the search continues and i will find one soon to book with.

GREAT NEWS!!!! i got ahold of the #1 choice studio and we are penciled in for March 17th. I am also going by the studio tomorrow the 8th to check it out and put down a deposit that will hold the time for us.

The lady who runs it said that everything at the studio is available to use in the rental charge, including makeup for the models and the wardrobe that they have on hand.

also, she has newbie(student) make-up artists that will do Time for work for us as long as we agree to get them images in a timely manner. That is no biggie since that will be part of a standard agreement for the models as well.

I am pretty stoked about this.

Ben: can you edit the title to include the date of March 17th?

    Great news man!

I can't wait.. gotta figure out what is actually feasible to bring on the trip as far as equipment goes..

I have more than enough equipment for a couple 2 light setups, but I'm concerned about the "No carry on limit" limit. 3 light stands, 3 speedlights, an alien bee, PLM, beautydish, umbrellas and camera gear? Yikes.. I'll have to live in the clothes I wear down!

the studio will cost $300 for the full day rental. I will have to put down a half cost deposit, so dont flake on me aight? I will put it down tomorrow when i visit the studio if there is no issues. and i just realized i got the date wrong it is the 20th not the 17th. the 17th is a wednesday

I was wondering about the whole Wednesday night shoot thing.

I'm with Shawn on this one - round trip airfare is too much for me as well. If anyone is interested in an "NSOP learns how to shoot bodyscapes" meetup, pick a date.

I can do 6 round trips at the moment for about $86 ($43 each way - these are standby tickets dont forget) and I may be able to stretch that to 10 if needed. (closer to the time I will be able to see the loads and will have a better idea on how many we can get on easily) They only have one flight down but its mid week so we should be ok... (if people want to go earlier, or come back later that is an option as well. You dont "need" to fly with me, (you just dont travel at the same priority on the standby list)

And seriously carry on wont be an issue, we will meet outside security and I can either make multiple trips if there is a lot, or we can spread it around and all come with me.

I can bring umbrellas and speedlights (sony though, so PITA to use on other cameras...)

At the moment JetBlue havnt announced BOS to Houston direct, so we will have to go via JFK...not a huge issue

Hmmm... DC to JFK is $170 round trip, so the total would still be over $250 , putting it out of reach for me. Plus I have family in Houston, and I know I wouldn't be able to travel without visiting them, and that would make for a very long and tiring weekend.

The price I quoted is from where ever to where ever... it will include your IAD to JFK leg You could come up from Orlando to JFK then to Houston and it wouldnt change the price

East coast to Houston is considered a medium haul flight, so you pay $35 each way for the Buddy pass, plus taxes, which will be roughly $18ish total

    So yoar coming

she said it'd be OK the other night. As a bday gift but only if I spend <$100. I'll have to ignore the gas to Boston (BTW, we're leaving Saturday AM super early right? I wonder if I can catch a train/bus in from PVD or where can I park cheap?).

You can leave from JFK if you want Ben, we will have to go there anyways, so I can just come out of security and get you...

The earliest flight is at 11am... so we may have to do the 8:28pm flight out on Friday night... (2 flights a day 11am and 8:28pm) this does make me nervous as its on our small plane (100 seats) and being a friday night may get quite full... we should be good though.

and then we can fly back either 7am or 3:21pm on the sunday. Again, I can watch the loads, and for example all this week they are in the 60s, so providing there is nothing big happening in Houston that weekend all should be good.

and yes if anyone wants to leave the days leading up to this, you dont "have" to fly with me. I basically email you a pass and you call and book the day you want to go, they charge your CC and you're off... All are fully refundable and changeable for free. The ONLY downside is that you fly standby, but I can look at the exact loads and know whether we will get on or not.

    It will be fun.

Damn dude, you rock. I would go from Boston for sure, I'm just wondering about parking for cheap up there or getting there from somewhere that is cheap to part. I'd prefer the 11am flight from Boston honestly as it'd mean I could train up and park for free. It also means I don't miss any PAD days with Elias. How late would we get to houston on that flight? Same on the returns? I don't want to be in TX for 3 hours either, but I'd prefer to leave Caturday if possible (which might mean I fly on my own like you mentioned).

This is going to be a RAD weekend though, I just hope nothing happens that ****s it up. One thing on my side is NEXT weekend Nikki's going to VT with her girlfriends leaving Friday night and coming back Sunday. I also do my ski trips though so I have to be a bit careful how many weekends in a row I have ****, but her entire weekend away makes this much easier to get away with.

Google says 5h40m in traffic. I'm on the south side of the beltway, and I'd probably hit a decent amount of traffic. The last time I did the drive (to a spot on Long Island about 45 minutes east of JFK) it took me around 6-7 hours, thanks to stupid traffic.

So what kind of stuff are we going to be shooting? Also, how many simultaneous shooting setups do have plan on having? The shooting area at that studio doesn't look all that big.

I could share my lighting techniques, and even do a live bodyscapes demo (assuming we found a model who was keen), but then it'd feel more like a workshop... Then again, I could probably use the practice before I start hosting workshops for real, like I plan on doing this summer.

Sorry Dan, that's a trade secret.

Actually, it's not that hard. Shoot enough nude models, and let statistics do the rest.

If you guys are serious about a bodyscapes demo, I'll start searching for models in the Houston area on MM.

i think there is area to shoot at least two locations at once. i am scheduled to visit the studio on friday to confirm. we can shoot anything you like. the two girls i have booked so far i know will be cool with anything from bikini to plain portraits to fashion. i have not broached the subject of anything on the side of nudez. doesnt mean we cant arrange for it.

i will check if the studio has any limitations on clothing also.

hopefully i will have some more models lined up soon i am working on it. i want enough to make up for the ones that will inevitably flake
