So I was thinking this could be a really cool deal to get a few of us together and find a few people to shoot, split costs and make it uber cheap. The studio cost is $300, I have paid the $150 deposit so we are locked in.

We have full use of the entire studio. Lights, modifiers, stands, props, furniture, insdie/outside, small wardrobe of dresses, shoes and accessories. The make up counter and makeup are free to use. There is even a freight elevator in the building that we can shoot in, it is super cool for industrial style shots.

We can bring in food and drink and she has a list of local places that deliver.
The studio does have internet access and use of her iMac, its at least a 24".

She is setting us up with some makeup artists to start the day and get the model made up at least once. They are on a time for images basis, so we have to provide them with web images for their portfolios.

THe models are also on a time for images basis. Web images for the models are a must, full size images are up to you and the model.

Hit me up with questions on anything i left out.

So chime in Houstonians! Who would be in? Who can help with models(chough, Hotrod, cough, RallyGuy2k, cough)?

Models have shown interest in casual, fashion and one for pinup. Glamour, swimwear and lingerie are possiboilites but I wont know till I hear more from models.

I have no direct contacts although I know there is a studio in Boston that rents out like this. I will try and find the name of the place.

and as for Houston... Once you have a date let me know and I will try and get a trip so Im there for it... if anyone wants to go I could organise us some standby tickets for sure.

Dude that would be awesome. We will have to plan at least a month in advance then and probably shoot for a weekend so that someone could take you up on your offer.

you realize you only get Jim's super secret handshake pricing if you fly WITH him right? Although, Logan to Minnitonka to TX might work.

It will be roughly $86 return tops. With or without me... but if you travel with me you travel at the second highest priority as opposed to the 4th...

I can also organise us a room at the Hilton next to the airport fro $80 a night. the only downside to that is that its a fair way from downtown I will need to check our website to see if we get any deals downtown. There is a good chance though.

Obviously it will be best if we avoid a weekend with any special events in Houston so the planes will be empty

I dont see there being any problem in 6ish people getting there though.

It does sound like a full day would be in order.

Feb or March will be perfect.

And its return so $86ish total $43 each way (Well about $48 to Houston, and $38 back) I say "ish" as taxes change almost daily so it may be a couple of dollars either side.

We may need to go via New York, but thats no biggy as its no extra $$ for us Bostonians to fly from Boston to New York and then onto Houston, and those that are closer to New York could just meet us at JFK and we can all go from there.

For $86 to go to TX for the weekend and back, I'm pretty sure I can do it too. Make it closer to March 27th (my Bday) and I'll have more negotiating powers. (but NOT near march second, Elias' Bday...).

Anyone got a couch I could surf? Or could we all share that hotel room?

Hello, I have a couple extra beds at my place.

Dan those are pretty good prices, especially since they charge next to nothing to use their lighting gear.

No wai James, I call boobs! And Dan/Jeremiah, I DON'T want it ON my birthday, just NEAR it anyway, so make it either the weekend before or after and I'll have a chance. And this doesn't need to be scheduled around me, but I'd love to come and that time of years makes it at least plausible.

I really dont care what the date of it is. you suggested the first date so i went with it.

I am going to change the first post and make the date the weekend before the 27th. that works better for Ben and Jer.

If that date works for everyone i will start a dialouge with the studio pretty soon and start trying to arrange for some models.

it would be helpful too if we decide what level of stuff we want to shoot. Family portrait uber clean, fashion, model protraits, bikini/lingerie/edgy etc.

i would actually prefer the clean cut side in the morning(first half) and progress to sexier edgier but still SFW in the evening(second half). the safe thing would be to do all of the above minus the sexy stuff.

i leave that decision up to the other attendees, gauge your own abilities and if you can behave your self around pretty girls Marisa that means YOU!!

Any weekend should be fine

So long as there isnt any major events going on that may fill up the flights eg: major football game/baseball etc.
