Hey, Any of us Texans interested in doing a shoot day? I'm putting this out there early so people can plan. I'll be in the San Antonio are around mid July.
OR..
Anyone interested in coming down to Houston? Some parts of Galvestonare nice, or around the town in Houston.
Any other suggestions are open for discussion.....

Anyone want to come to Texas World Speedway in College Station and shoot me racing on April 13th? I can loan out my 70-200 / 1.4 tele / monopod to you Canon guys if you want to give it a shot.
And Marisa, I'll gladly meet up with you in San Antonio if the scheduling works out.

It's hard to nail down times because red flags and scoring delays always throw off the schedule, but I'll be in 4 different races throughout the day so there's a good chance you can catch me.
Racing starts at 10:45ish and goes all the way until it's done, there are 18 races that day. I'm in race #3, 10, 14 and 18.
3 is just the mini sprint, not too exciting. 10 is the one where I'll be most competitive on the big bike, but 14 and 18 will see some of the fastest laptimes of the day (not by me).
Race 3 should be around 11:15-30
Race 10 somewhere around 1 - 2pm
Race 14 around 3-4pm
and 18 between 5 and 6pm
Those are all guesses.
It's a $10 or $15 entry fee per vehicle and you have to sign a waiver at the gate. It would be really cool to see some of you guys out there.

I'll try to accommodate you guys as you show up, but please realize that my focus is going to be on racing and I probably won't be in a photographic mindset. I have no idea how things are going to go that day so all I ask is if I look like my concentration is needed elsewhere then the less distractions the better.
Other than that, take as many pics as you want, I look forward to them!

Sorry, did that sound rude? I'm fairly new to racing so I just want to make sure that my head is in the game. TWS is an intimidating track, the average lap speed is 90+ mph, so hopefully I'll loosen up a bit after Friday's practice.

See above, THIS Sunday Ted is going to be in a race in College Station. I'm planning on getting there by 10am. I'm not sure what time Quirkee is getting there and Distorto mentioned going but I'm not for sure still. If it's not too soon then PM me you cell # and we can meet you too.

I agree that we should do a proper TX meet. I'm starting to feel like I'm going to have my own paparazzi following me around on Sunday. Not that I have a problem with that.

OK, I think I'm going to be able to do what I need to get done tomorrow so I can pack up the family in the minivan and head out to College Station! Plus, the bluebonnets always grow like crazy east of I-35 and I haven't shot the kids photos in them yet this year.
SubieBoobie, what time are you all getting there? Distorto coming?

I'm working on them!! I've been trying to calibrate the monitor on the desk top but have failed. I really don't want to PP the photos on the laptop, but I will I guess. It was a fantastic time!! I've never been to something like that. It was really fun. Give me another couple of days, but I've got the PAD for Sunday to view.

i am based in houston and would love to get together with other locals for a shoot as soon as the camera i just ordered comes in. Maybe i can hunt for some pointers...
there is a state park southwest of town near sugarland that has nature trails an alligators and such might be a cool shoot location, i cant remember the namee right now though
