heh - my hoodie could walk itself home after shoot abi on the subway - i don't even wanna think what i was lying in from time to time.
right now, i'm around in that timeframe - it may change, but lord knows.
B&H and adorama are owned by orthodox jews and are not open on saturdays (and most of fridays) due to shabbas. sundays at B&H are kinda fun to watch - it's like watching "girls gone wild" except with balding, pauchy photographers all fighting to buy stuff. LOL!

Don't forget that October is always a sketchy month to try to order anything from either, too.... as their schedules are on and off and make no sense to anyone who isn't Jewish.

I am off work between christmas and new year's, I suspect many of you are as well. so that would be an awesome time to do it. although, if we are gonna do it in january, I can put in a time off request.
november doesn't work for me, nor does pre-christmas december, when I'll be shooting ****ing santa photos (ugh).
just spent a few minutes checking flights, I can do it for about $600 round-trip for the weekend after Xmas. that is, arriving the 26th (Friday) and leaving the 29th (monday).
I have been wanting to make a NYC trip for a long time, and this is as good an excuse as any. I wish I could spend more time there, but since it's only a couple days, my itinerary isn't gonna include a lot of sleep! I am kinda a vampire anyway, late nights are all good with me...

for me I drive to new haven and train in, so my only issue is getting the wife to OK it.
and yeah, Sundays at B&H is amateur hour for sure. Not only the shoppers, but it's also when I've had not so helpful help from the usually great counter staff.

SO - anybody know any ultra-cheap places to stay in or close to the city? somewhere I can roll in at 5am and sleep til noon, so not a hostel (are hostels in NY like hostels in Europe? I dunno).
or can I crash on somebody's couch? or floor or whatever...

I guess I meant it in relative terms - where is the most inexpensive place to stay that I can reach from Manhattan in less than 45 minutes via public transport?

that's not too bad. it's not horrifically ghetto, is it? not worried about 'local color' (I am originally from whittier/montebello lol) as long as I don't get robbed when leaving to meet you guys!

I've stayed on times square for less than that (midweek). Hotels.com can scare up some fun rooms.

hmmm 4 hour drive for me to get to NYC, i have a place i could stay on long island though perhaps. or i could call some people and find a place in city. i wish i could go, but maybe i'll just run into that extra needed cash and come down?
i know! i'll just find the cash cab and win tons o' loot
only 10,000 cabs, can't be that hard!
