Sorry I didn't reply sooner. It was cheaper for me to get the Dakine so thats what made my decision. However, these packs are in two different classes I believe. Dakine took a ski specific pack and modified it, whereas Burton took a photo bag and made it ski-able. I think the Burton will hold more(even though it is technically smaller), but if you actually have to ski with it, I think the Sequence is better. Things like internal snow tool pocket and more streamlined shape. But Burton's got the everyday use type things, like a laptop pocket.

To answer your original question: Space on the sequence is pretty limited. There is enough room for a small lunch/snacks and a compressible coat. The Camera Block is strange, I guess if you are a minimalist you'd like it.

Here's the sequence for a very good price: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...d.php?t=114690

I just got my Domke Bug Bag 30 in the mail from Adorama. They had them on sale for $25, so I couldn't pass it up. I only had backpacks, so I really wanted to pick up a small shoulder bag I could take to places where a backpack wouldn't be appropriate. (weddings, parties, etc...)
I think it's going to work out fine. The shoulder strap is very minimal, so I'll probably upgrade that at some point.

So far it holds the D300 w/ 18-70 attached, 70-200 2.8, 50 1.8, SB-600, and has plenty of pockets for small items. I could probably get more in there, but that isn't why I bought it. Even the 70-200 probably won't come along once I get a 10-20 or 10.5 FE (or both).

depending on how it's attached, you might be stuck with that strap (I have 2 bags like that). Crumpler has a kick ass strap pad you can get at B&H:

I hope I didn't just make a big mistake. I went last night and bought this bohemoth: the LowePro Trekker Classic. It's friggin huge. The store didn't have anything else. They had some mini-Trekker's a few weeks ago, but they were all sold out last night.

I plan on dragging this thing through Europe. My thought process was that I could use all the extra slots for snacks or something while I'm traveling. I just hope it's not too big of a nuisance on the plane or on trains.

That's a good price! I think I paid ~100 or so for mine. I never use it anymore since I got my little shoulder bag though. It's still nice for when I want to take everything and then some.

Default  Well I got my MountainSmitth Slider...

and I am sending it back. Below are the reasons.

    1) It is bigger than it indicates, I went by the gear it would fit for an indication, the good news is for those of you who have a ton of gear, it cant fit a lot of it!

    2) The strap is not as padded as I wanted, I had planned to use this for hikes as well. It is padded and would be fine for a mroe casual use however.

    3) Not as much padding as I would like.

    4) To fit me right I have to keep the strap short, well this makes slinging it around to my front and using it from there to remove the camera more difficult. That was the whole reason I wanted it in the first place!

Conclusion: While this bag is well made, seems very durable, and may fit some excellently, it does not fit my needs well, so I will be returning, maybe it will work better for you guys.

lowepro stealth reporter 650 ready to go:

I'm going to shoot the start of the bermuda race tomorrow at lunch, so that's the 40D on the 300mm f4 at the top left. Bottom left is the 70-200 f4 IS with it's hood. Center top is a wired remote. Center is the 5D with 16-35 over the 2.0TC and wireless remote. Center bottom is the 1.4TC and hood for the 16-35. Top right is the 45mm TS-E and 24mm TS-E as I haven't had time to play with either really and I'm hoping I might tomorrow. Bottom right is the 15mm FE under the 24mm L because it's my favorite lens... The tripod will also be coming, not sure if I'll use it but it'll be nice if I bust out the TS-Es or the 300 gets heavy. The front pouch has my thinktank memory card deal in it loaded with my extra cards.

Starts at 1pm, I'm hoping to get down around noon and shoot through the first few classes then get back to work.

ft adams, castle hill and brenton are my thoughts. The ft is to inside, but if I'm early it's more scenic. Castle hill could be awesome, could be to inside as well depending on where they set the line. Typically brenton is the best location for the boats, but it has the least scenery.

I'm curious to see what I get myself actually. I've never shot the start before and never watched from land before, so it'll be interesting. I'm looking to get the group/crowd at the start and then speedboat and puma are my main targets. We'll see, but I'd imagine they'll HJ me in ~30 minute honestly, so I'll need to shoot fast. With 600mm if needed AND the 40D I'm hoping to have enough reach to get something interesting, but as I said, never shot the start OR from land before so who know.

Plus, who knows what the wind/weather will be.

depends on what you consider a mess. All the rich posers are in town buying all the guicci gear last minute. West's shelves are bare of anything for a 35'+ boat and most gear's sold out. Not quite sure how people get to newport for the race w/o gear, but whatever. It's not very crowded though. A lot of the people live around here enough they'll arrive tomorrow. But the docks are pretty full.

yeah, there was a lot of **** in the bag... I only used the 2 bodies, 16-35, 300 and 70-200. I just left the 300 on the 40D the entire time and used the 70-200 on the 5D when I needed wider. I'm sure I got some good shots, not sure how many, I shot about 450 shots, I'll see when I can get them up.

I bought a Lowepro 250 this past weekend. Are these bags any good? Damn impulse buy while I was at the camera store! I don't have much to put in it yet, but it looks to be a good replacement for my laptop only backpack. Now I can throw camera gear in there as well.

Just got a Lowepro Flipside 200 in the mail today... I was looking for a very stripped down backpack that I could take on day hikes that would hold a few lenses and my tripod. It's perfect, and I can actually fit more than a few lenses. In the photos, the lenses are the 70-200 f4 (mounted on 40D), 17-40, 28-105 (normally I'd have the 50mm in that slot, but I was using the 50 to take the photos), and in a slot that you can't see, below the 28-105, is the 1.4TC. Everything fits snug and feels great.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to using it... one cool thing is that there is only access from the back, so people can't open your bag and take your gear. You have to take it off your back to access everything, but I generally hike out to where I'm going to shoot and then pull out the camera, anyway.

Any suggestions for a carry around bag? I like the over the shoulder / messenger(i guess) bags. The crumpler million dollar series are nice, but pretty expensive. I would like something that doesn't scream camera bag.

At a minimum I would like it to carry my 30D, 10-22, 17-70, and 430EX along with cards and battery charger and extra batteries, etc. I also have the XTi and 50mm 1.8. I might end up selling the XTi; carrying those two bodies is pretty much useless.

any messenger bag you like + domke inserts.
