Default  .:Think Tank Trim Changer PREview:.

I picked up a trim changer today (well UPS delivered it today) for the GF1. The GF1 is enough smaller than all the other cameras I own it floats around in their bags, and enough bigger than my P&Ss it doesn't work in theirs either. I've been skiing with it in my jacket pocket, but even that isn't ideal (it moves around a bit and is slow to access). So I've been looking for a chest harness type solution for it (like I have for my big boy camera) only one I could wear under my jacket w/o being too obvious. I found the think tank trim changer and it's dimensions and specs seem pretty much perfect for what I want.

I have a few other TT products and I've always been very happy with their quality so I gave it a shot.
I'll be getting "action" shots of this over the weekend skiing, but for now, it looks perfect for carrying the GF1 with that taking roughly half the space. Eventually I'll have another lens or two to fill that space, but for now it'll take a snack or my iPhone/iPod (yes I ski with both).

this is with the "insert" in the bag and 2 dividers right down the middle. The lens has the cap AND TWO FILTERS on in this shot.

The insert comes out giving you even more room (how I thought I'd have to use it):

you can even fit the camera in "lens down" and still zip it (it's tight enough you'd probably want a screen protector if you were going to do this often). This is how you'd likely store it with a 14-45 or 7-14 on the camera:

you can see there's plenty of room for the camera with a pancake on one side and another large lens on the other:

it's got a bombproof rain cover (as do all the TT products I've owned):

at first I thought the design on the zipper was weird/cheap looking, then I realized what it was for:

now, this is one of their pouches for their belt system. It's got a massive velcro flap on the back that's meant to attach it to their belts. I won't be using it that way. It's also got 2 tiny little tabs on the top for a strap. I'll be rigging it up tonight with some spectra and using my chest harness from my lowe pro TLZ to make it work, but I already know that will be a ~5 minute job and work very well.

I know we don't have a lot of GF1 users here, never mind any who want to use a chest harness, but I thought I'd share.
    I own this joint!

    so, a soda/beer can isn't good enough?

I'll be posting shots with it strapped to my chest after this weekend though, I'll try to get something normal in there as well.

I can't believe they let you have soda/beer at work.

    I wish it was beer.

truth be told, I don't drink soda, it was an empty I had to "find" for the shot.

thanks, and yeah, TT's **** is all great so far. I own 2 lens cases, a "speed 50" my filters live in and now this. I also just got a UD30 today which I should have pics of online tonight (replacement for the boda). They're just on the GF1 with no way to get them off... But I'm very impressed with their quality and design for the most part. I'm sure it's partly the honeymoon stage, but the UD30 is pretty well designed just going over it quickly.
