Default  Canon TC80N3 Timer Remote Control

I got my tax refund today and had planned on buying the Canon Timer Remote with my money but wanted to ask here first.

I take a lot of low-light photos and although I use the 2 second timer to shoot, I would rather have a remote. On my Rebel, I had the tiny wireless remote, which I LOVED but that doesn't work with the higher end cameras.

Anyone have this or something similar? Talk me into buying it. I was all ready to buy it but now that I have the money, I'm like, is there something else I could get?

do you want all the timed control and interval controls that has? If not a straightforward wired remote is well under half the price.

Most importantly, I want to take pictures longer than the 30 seconds my camera allows. And I can't stand there holding the shutter for that long using bulb, ha ha.

I like the time lapse stuff but it's not a necessity. Would just be fun to play with.

Got any links to other options? I'm open to anything.

here's the $50 official canon version:
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...h_RS_80N3.html

there are ebay and other varieties that do the same. The difference between that and what you posted is the RS 80 is just a switch... So to go over 30 seconds you lock it down, time it yourself, then unlock it to finish. With the guicci one you posted it will time the shot for you, and even take a bunch of shots at a set interval that are a set length.

    The one you posted will:
    • take a set number of shots (ie 10 shots)
    • take shots at a set interval (ie 1 shot every 27 seconds)
    • take shots of a specific length (ie 360 seconds long)
    • take a shot at a specific delay (self timer with custom time)
the one I posted is a button. You use it with bulb to get longer shots, but you do so by locking and unlocking it yourself. Better than nothing, but all it really gets you over the 2/10 second timers is the ability to go beyond 30 second exposures, but you're still baby sitting the camera with the one I linked.

I have both. The TC80N3 is awesome if you have the money and don't mind the size/weight. If you need any of the functions or don't want to baby sit long exposures it's a great option. It is a tad confusing, but not too bad. (ie I actually had to read the manual. )

So I just ordered the RS-80N3 instead. I really wanted the other one so I could play around. But I just couldn't see spending 100 more on it for something I just wanted to play with.

Don't hate me! Amazon because it was like 8 bucks cheaper than B&H and free shipping.

I don't, I'm just working on getting some affiliate programs together for the forum and amazon is one of them... I was just wondering if this was another missed opportunity since I'm slow.
