Default  Just what I needed.. memory card problems

I have a 4GB Hitachi Microdrive and I seem to be having problems pulling the pictures off of it.

If the card is in the camera, i can see all the pictures i took, but if i use a cord to hook the camera up to my computer, or if i take th microdrive out and put it into a card reader, it wont read the card...

I dont know what to do.

I've never heard of that brand, so that's not a good start. I hope someone else has some input.

maybe the firmware for the card itself is outdated, making your computer not recognize it?

Hitachi was (is?) a big brand in the microdrive business. Never liked the idea since they were just little hard drives.

So what you're saying is the camera can access the card but nothing else talks to it right (a reader or through the camera)?

Have you tried to scan / recover for bad sectors of the card?
I know those Microdrives were really terrible for longevity.
My work had one, (512mb) and it failed on us in the same way

My dad gave it to me a while ago, but it seems to be working fine now.

I was outside in the cold all day yesterday taking pictures, so he said it might just be cold... gave it a half hour to get to room temperature turned on teh camera, and presto, the computer pulled em all off like there was never a problem.

Ive been using this card for ab out a year, in another camera, so maybe its time to find an affordable back up.

How do i go about checking it for bad sectors since its in the camera?
    (i loved having a 4gb card)

When it's hooked up to the computer such as through a card reader, you can run a scan on it. Right click, go into properties and in the tools you can find the drive scan.

I'd upgrade to a new solid state drive, they're less trouble than those little hard drives IMO.

How old is the card? You could contact the manufacture and see if they will RMA it for you...
