it works. it also works for pentax as well. i use a headset for my wired remote. the one i've got currently, once it's plugged in, it will focus and take a shot.

Cool. I'll have to see if I still have a cheapo wired headset laying around that I can test on my k10d.

Or just buy one of the $4 or $5 ones on Ebay. That's what I use.

A shutter release is literally the easiest circuit ever (unless you count a straight wire as a circuit) -- it's just a switch for focus (half press on the shutter button, so it could be exposure instead if you set it that way) and a switch for release (full press on the shutter button). If you have a 2.5mm plug laying around your house, you can build one. I made one with an old TI calculator link cable and a stopwatch.

yeah, i was thinking about setting something up with a timer circuit... its been a while since ive meddled with circuitry and IC's, i kinda miss it.
