Default  Ebay Wireless Remote for Rebel XT

I went on a ebay spree and I figured that for $10 shipped this was worth a try. The sellers address was Chinatown via Hong Kong or something like that so it seemed kinda sketchy. But, 3 days later it arrived to my door. Then it didn't work, so I checked the battery and it had the wrong battery installed. I corrected that with the right battery and it works like a champ. It's simple, there are only two buttons so I'm happy with it.

I am assuming you can't lock the shutter with that remote?

No dice. One button is just like pushing the shutter release and the other is a 2 second delay.

you can leave that sucker wide open for as long as you can hold the button down.

I need to get myself a wireless remote as the wired one is worthless when I have my tripod raised too high.

I ordered a wired remote from ebay yesterday. $7 shipped, compared to $54 for the Nikon version.

Doesn't the Canon IR remote work differently in bulb mode? My D50 has an infrared remote, and when I set the shutter to bulb, one click on the remote opens the shutter, and it doesn't close until I click it again. I would think they'd all work that way.

Anyway, anyone that recommends buying the manufacturer's remote should be banned. I could buy 6 ebay remotes for the price of one from Nikon.
