Just got an Optech Tripod strap so that I can keep my hands free when hiking... It has a nice thick, wide pad with grippy bumps, and quick release clasps for attaching the strap to the head and feet of your tripod. I'll get a photo up soon, but it's in my car and I am in my PJs...

I just wanted to give it a big thumbs up since I should have gotten it a long time ago. If you do a lot of walking with your tripod, and don't have a backpack to strap it to, a tripod strap like this one is a big help!

I didn't like the ends on their tripod strap so I went with my own DIY version using their classic strap:


the key with mine is I'm using one of their pro loop adapters at the head. But instead of using it the normal way, I put it on the "stem" with the clamp off (I'm using a RRS clamp on a Acratech head, so I did this when I assembled the parts). It works really well because it's short and stays out of the way. Then I just used another pro loop at the other end and spliced some spectra onto it so I have a really easy to use loop system that's way better than a plastic clip. And spectra is super easy to splice for stuff like this, you just use a chop stick...

i just have a tripod case, i think i should make myself a cool strap...hrmmm

i'd love to see some pics of the strap on the tripod. kinda need to get one myself...

i may have to make straps and undercut those prices!
