The idea of this forum is to encourage everyone to go out and shoot then come here to share, without worries of image quality or photographer skill. A year from now we can all look back and enjoy how we all saw the world on a certain day.

The rules are simple: Image posting is limited to 1 photo per person, per day. The photo must be taken on the day of the thread it is posted in. Late posting is fine (eg Vacation pics or weekend pics away from a computer) but the images must go in the corresponding thread for the day that they were taken. Cross posting of images that are also in Sharing/Critique is fine as well. All posting in this subforum is reserved for images or encouraging comments about others' images. And that's it. To make this more clear, NO posting of images to make a funny comment. No quoting of someone's PAD image, just quote the text and comment. Also if you want to PP someone's images to help (only if it's OK with them), post a link to what you did, not the actual image. I don't want to be a rule stickler here, this is just to make the tallying of who has posted images each day easier!!!

There will be a special prize for anyone that manages to post an image for all 365 days.

Now go out and shoot!

NO RESERVED SPOTS!!!
you can post anything you want in a thread to make yourself come back to post, just post your shot at the bottom when you do get it in there. There are a few reasons for this, but basically it's to keep the images in the order they were posted so you don't skip past a "read" post and miss the edit when the shot was added.

It all started because, like Matt said, you have to post something to start the thread. So maybe from now on the first post should just be something generic, maybe a list of everyone who contributed that day edited after the day is over? Might be a pain, but there needs to be an easy way to prove if someone actually manages to post all 365 images.

the reserved doesn't even bother me, it's the going back to post them, because when I click on the "first unread" I zoom right by them and wonder what just wizzed by...

You can reserve spots so that it's a thread you've posted in and it comes up when you search. But when you post it, leave the reserved spot up top, post the image at the bottom...

Calling it a "reserved spot" probably doesn't make sense, consider it "marked for later" or "subscribed" type of a thing.

I just like keep everything chronological. That way the first person to put an image up gets all the glory too.

i don't delete my original text when i edit, i add to it. the only reason i did that is because i don't have internet setup at my apartment and i still wanted to be a part of this "project."

How come that sounds a lot worse than "a photo a day?" They are the same numbers!!

Also, I really did not understand why you have to reserve a spot, anyway. Is there a limit to posts per thread?

I just joined yesterday and the admin said I could add my previous shots from Jan 1 on but only 10/day at the most so it doesn't take over the recent entries from the current day's posters.

It is a good way to drive more views to your Flickr albums and maybe to NSOP. There are also some great photographers in there for daily inspiration if you get stuck and feel uncreative.

Yeah, I just started a new thread, because there wasn't one, and when I was done, there was one. Hopefully they will just merge them.

I just wanted to say that I hope everyone that has participated in the PAD section has enjoyed it as much as I have. Looking back through mine, I have a lot of photos I wouldn't have taken otherwise.

Looking back through the threads, there's such great stuff.

Tomorrow we head into the last quarter of the year--can't believe we've made it 3/4ths of the way already!

Yeah, its been challenging but rewarding when I look back, for sure.

Now that I'm back on the horse for 2 weeks, I'm really again finding this rewarding, but challenging. It's easy with Noah and all the things I can shoot associated with him, but I really get a kick out of shooting again. 2008 I got burned out by the end, 2009 I really shot too little to be honest, 2010 I think will end up great! I'm even getting Kris to shoot a bit as well, the camera's always out and ready to go so she's more likely to pick it up and fire away.

yeah, tons easier with a set subject isn't it.
