I'm working on hosting a gallery created within the software using the web module.

It will basically create and organize all files you need to upload to your host for you and it seems pretty simple.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I've also downloaded slimbox, http://theturninggate.com/blog/?c=Lightroom, and it seems to be everything I need.

Excited about getting it started... now if I could only find the time.

I'm in the process of making galleries for a few sites... Not sure if this will be one of them, but awesomeroadtrips.com will get a simpleviewer, benjacobsen.com will get gallery2, then benjacobsenphoto.com will most likely get a simpleviewer too...

I'm looking to protect my images a bit on the 2 with simpleviewer... Yes people can still printscreen, but it will help. I also want to somehow work out a way to sell images through a gallery on benjacobsenphoto.com so that adds a bit of complexity to it...

As for the gallery2, it seems very powerful, but it also seems very slow. Any site I've seen using it is slow once they make it look good... the default layout seems to run great though, so I'll be playing with that too.

This is where I'm hesitant about leaving my smugmug account, I'm not very "code savy(?)" and I know I'm going to screw something up. There I just upload and go

yeah, I fumbled my way through both gallery2 and simpleviewer last night w/o any issues... The only hard part on gallery2 is getting it to talk with you host (1and1 has a host name, most hosts don't). With simple viewer if you can FTP, you can do a simpleviewer... It well named.
