Pretty much its the combination of multiple images, each image taken with exposure on a different part of the photograph. therefore when combined, it gives that perfect image look.

neither and both--the number refers to exposure compensation, which you can get by adjusting shutter speed by stops, apertures by stops, or just dial the exposure compensation a stop to suit your needs.

thats exposure compensation, its a feature in your camera that will allow you to adjust the exposure up or down (like mini M). I know in Canon SLRs, you can set it to a 3 shot series, where it will take one underexposed, one neutral, and one over. Give you a basic platform for HDR.

Please tell me how. I read on line that you hold a button and spin the wheel by the shutter release but I cant figure out what button that is. I know which one it is for the f-

    ^ which camera?

In Menu, go to AEB. When you adjust it there will be a bar. -2..-1..0..1..2

A marker will be underneath the 0 to start, when you adjust you will see two markers go evenly outwards. These are where the exposure settings are. -2 and 2 are under and over exposure by two full stops. Once this is set, you will have to take 3 shots of the same subject, one will be on the - side, one at 0 and one on the + side.

When using AV, TV, or P, you can also set the EV. if you are using a 30/40/5D you move the power switch to the wheel. When the wheel is on, it will display the same bar in the top display panel with the coresponding marker, that will adjust on a single image basis.

This is an HDR, I forget the exposure details. Probably -2 to +2 EV range. Far too much dynamic range from the walls inside the structure to the outside for a camera to capture in one exposure.

Same with this one. Without HDR the curved columns on the left (where the faces are) would be completely blown out and the ceiling would be much darker, for example.

I would love to see a side-by-side, HDR and single, good exposure comparison. I've never seen one...

Well, I'd gladly do that for the above photos but I don't have the single exposures on my laptop so I can't do that right now.

nice shots, emo. i like the way the contrast is compressed... gives the shots an almost "painted" look.

    i also love abandoned buildings.
