I save all my original RAW files, when they go into lightroom they become .TIF, then exported as JPG and saved.

only when it's required. I shoot in JPEGs mostly, RAWs when needed. Everything I process goes to JPEG and is uploaded to my site. I save all the original files untouched as shot regardless of file type though.
