Is there any way to reset all the defaults in Photoshop CS2? Something is screwy with mine and I'm hoping putting everything back to the beginning will fix whatever it is.
Thanks.

Quick Yahoo search found this:
To reset the PhotoShop preferences,
1. Open/Explore any Folder. Goto Tools > Folder Options > View > Show hidden
files and folders. (this will allow you to view your hidden files, you know,
i guess.)
2. Goto- C:/Documents and Settings/'your login Name'/Application Data/Adobe
3. Delete the Floder named 'Adobe' (ie. Application Data/'Adobe')
Now your Photoshop preferences are all reset.

That sounds scary, Shawn. Any computer guys want to give me an explanation for what that would do? I don't like messing with that kind of stuff, I usually screw **** up.![]()

Basically, here's the problem after further investigation (after my other thread)...
Photos/colors look normal in my browsers and on my desktop, but whenever I open something in Photoshop, all the colors become off and muted. Then, when I save for web, they look normal again.
But if I edit in photoshop to get something to look right, then save for web, the shots are WAY overcooked.
See what I'm saying? It's driving me nuts and I really don't think it's the Adobe RGB/sRGB normal/easy issue.

When you open images in Photoshop, it opens them into the "working profile" I think your working profile is set to something other than sRGB.
This makes sense because when you "Save for Web" you are saving as sRGB and thus the files looks fine on the web and your desktop.

Damn.
My working space is "sRGB" and it looks like I had it backwards when saving for web.
The original (left side) looks good/normal, while the right side (output) looks flat/off/dull. Hmmm...

What I do is as Photoshop is opening, hold down alt+ctrl+shift at the same time. A window should pop up asking if you want to reset Photoshop to defaults.
I do this every once in a while to "refresh."
Edit:
This is on a PC.

Try holding the keys down before you actually open Photoshop. You have to have them held down before the splash screen shows up.

BTW, the same thing was happening on my boyfriend's computer, in Photoshop the colors were off but saving for web they were fine, I did this little key combo and it did the trick.![]()
