Just wondering if anybody has tried the #1 in this tutorial? I tried it and man what a difference it makes. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

I'd love to see some examples of this.
I'm not an advocate of over processing any image, but that doesn't stop my curiosity.

Here is the before
Here is the after
I realize it needs more sharpening but it really brings out the colors.

Im new to photoshop. What exacly does the sponge tool do?
|
|
a tutorial like that is more suited for something that you want to add specific emphasis upon...like portraiture, nature photography, etc. a regular landscape shot like that though, doesn't do either justice, IMHO.

oh and if you like the selective focus stuff like that, check out this one too:

it's really easy to do and pretty much replicates bokeh with certain images

I just figured if you do everything except the blur it does the same thing with the colors but does not soften the picture. I think this is easier than the sponge toll as it is automatic instead of having to sponge away.

|
ahh, gotcha

Like i said I am new to photoshop so when I find out something I am like a kid in a candy store.
|
|
oh totally dude, i'm the same way.
when i learned about sharpening in moderation, it was like the clouds parted and jeebus spoke to me

the key step there is the layer property set to overlay. that is what boosts contrast and saturation. you don't need to blur it to get that.

All these tutorials are a ton of fun to play with, but to me everything here is a kinda trick or walk around to another way to do it in PS. And I HATE anything that introduces blur....
ummm, no it doesn't...
Ken's got some tricks that can get bokeh looking results, but that example isn't one... Sorry.![]()
I own this joint!
