Default  I just want one app

Okay, there seem to be a number of photo apps out there and the descriptions on the websites all say the same thing. People want to chime in on what they use (like, please tell me you can do 99% of what you want with one app!) and what the other apps would be used for? From the memory card to your website, is it possible to just use/master one software app?

PhotoShop, iPhoto, Lightroom, Aperture, etc ...

I convert/browse/organize in Adobe Bridge. Process in Adobe Photoshop CS2.

The only other app I'm considering is some kind of Noise Reduction for my macro stuff...

    Adobe Photoshop CS3

I use something else to transfer my images from the card to the hard drive (at home it's zoombrowser, here it's lightroom, but windows will do it). I also use adobe bridge to browse my images, but windows would also work there (and bridge is included with photoshop)....

But I do all my editing resizing and anything like that in PS. It's just browsing and downloading I use other programs for.

P.S., you didn't mention plugins, so photoshop is an easy answer... I also have a few plugins I use within photoshop.

Same here: Bridge/Photoshop for image browsing/sorting/selection/RAW conversion/and all PP. I use a cheapy cardreader so I don't need any software to handle that.

here too, but at work I have lightroom because they had a demo copy. Not impressed but I let it DL automatically because it's setup and I'm too lazy. At home I also use a card reader, but again because zoombrowser is already setup I use that. Plus it automatically sets up the folders by date which I like and since I don't always DL every day I shoot, that's a nice time saver.

Yeah, I only download when my cards are near full, and then all the images go onto a 320gig external that I have set aside just for image backup.

PS actually edits the pixels in the file. Yes you can save the image as something else and if it's a RAW you're not editing it, but you are actually modifying the pixels in the image as you work. In PS you can edit the entire image with your adjustments, or do pixel by pixel editing.

Lightroom uses the DNF principal where you're editing a file that adjusts the look of the original non destructively... This means you have your original, whatever it is, then the adjustments are saved as another file. Add those 2 together (export from lightroom) and you get your adjusted images... Lightroom for the most part also only edits the entire image the same what (you can dust spot and control what gets sharpened, everything else is global to the entire image).
