    Default  Nikon releases CaptureNX 2

Nikon has released a completely redone version of CaptureNX 2, with some improvements, but it doesn't sound like enough improvements.

On top of that, it costs $109.95 to upgrade! From a product that already costs $130 or whatever.

****ing wankers. Maybe it's great... I'll never know.

That's a lot of cheddar. For that kind of money you could get a C1 license that seems to carry over between versions.

    Default  Nikon releases Capture NX2.

I'm not sure how many people are using Capture NX, but I read about this today, and it looks interesting. Hopefully they made it less of a system hog than NX was.

I'll probably get it once the full version is released. For now it's a trial, with no pricing on the full version.

It looks like they've added a clone tool, which is lacking in NX 1.0. Also, I guess they updated the interface. It sounds like it might be similar to Lightroom..? (Develop Tab)

Since I like using NX to convert RAW files, I've made it a goal of mine to learn to use it for everything. It's frustrating as hell, so hopefully NX2 will be easier.

I feexed it (apparently just before you noticed your booboo). I think this is equally appropriate in either section but it is news and Markitos beat you to the punch so I'll leave it here for now.

I downloaded this and tried it out last night... It's not much different from 1.0, to me. I'm not exactly a power user, so I'm probably missing some things. I was hoping for a better interface, but it's the same old thing. Not sure how much faster it runs, I don't have any trouble with NX now.

The selection points are interesting, I'll have to read up on how to use them effectively. I like that you can click on a person's face, and it does a pretty good job of selecting only the skin tone areas, and adjust them with sliders. Same goes for other areas, like the sky. It seems pretty intuitive.

Like Lightroom, the interface is so much different, it makes for a weird transition from standard photoshop. At least, to me.

I am trying this out for tweaking jpegs. So far I like it. Worth it for me just to have the selection points. I never really got the hang of photoshop, so the selection points with the sliders make tweaking specific areas easy. I may by this for jpegs, and keep lightroom for raw and organizing.

I like the high pass sharpening method. I've been using it quite a bit.

Adjust -> Focus -> High Pass ; Then adjust radius, switch blending mode to overlay and adjust opacity.

I forgot to add to use the pull down in the opacity section and select luminance and chrominance, and run the chrominance slider to 0%, and adjust the luminance slider only. It works the other way too, but this way is much cleaner and subtle without halos.
