Is anybody using it and how much of an improvement is it over CS2 for what you do? Also is it more of a resource hog then CS2?

Re: Photoshop CS3 |
I have been using the whole CS3 suite (Design Premium). A handful of things have been rearranged which are sometimes a bit of a nuisance to figure out. I can't say I've seen anything that I think is worse other than the nuking of the stand alone image ready program. I haven't yet tried all the supposed bits and pieces of Photoshop and Fireworks that replace it.
Among the many improvements:
- better camera raw converter, lots of nice new features and settings for adjusting different tones/zones independently and is overall a more sophisticated converter. C1 might still be better but ACR is pretty good, I haven't had enough time to compare it to C1.
- Docked toolboxes and everything. Sometimes I drag Photoshop (or Illustrator) to my second screen and it's much nicer having these docked because I don't have to go back and drag them all over as well.
- The new browser is much better, faster and more informative as well as a lot snazzier looking. It still takes some time to start up but it doesn't seem to be as much of a resource hog.
Those are the things that, so far, have been the most noticeable but when I'm home I can say more when I have CS3 in front of me. I haven't installed it on this laptop yet.

Re: Photoshop CS3 |
I might try it out just for those 3 improvements alone. Although I've gotten so used to CS2 I'm a little hesitant to pony up the cash.

Re: Photoshop CS3 |
I had been using CS2 but I, uh, found it. I bought the CS2 creative suite in may when Adobe announced the free upgrade program. CS2 suite was $200 and the CS3 suite was $300 so I figured I'd just get the CS2.
Super special institute educational pricing FTW.

What would you recommend for a complete and total n00b? I want to use Photoshop...but I don't know which one I should use. CS2 or CS3? Which is going to be easier to learn/navigate? Which is going to be best for me to use to cover up my n00b photo skills?

Re: Photoshop CS3 |
Neither is going to be easier for a noob, in fact switching from CS2 to CS3 is a bit wonkier than past upgrades since they rearranged some things. If you can, go with CS3 IMO but CS2 is still a good program too.

Re: Photoshop CS3 |
Thanks for the input!
I'm a fast learner, but I would like to go with whichever is going to give me the least issues while I get started. Perhaps going with CS3 from the get-go will be better than getting CS2 and needing to upgrade/switch anyways. Thanks again

Re: Photoshop CS3 |
Exactly. It's not an issue IMO of one being easier than the other because I don't think either is. They are different though so if you start with CS3, chances are you'll go through less hassle with later upgrades in getting used to the changes they've rolled out.

Re: Photoshop CS3 |
it is a legal registered version. i registered the new CS3 on there today. but it still wants the old serial number.
is there any email addy? everything i could find on the website was a pay 39.00 for a one time incident.
heck i should start doing that for KB!!

Re: Photoshop CS3 |
Not sure, but check here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/view...5282&sliceId=1
Especially this part:
which then links you to the support place where I hope you don't have to pay $39/incident. A phone call may be your best bet.Upgrade serial numbers
Upgrade versions of Adobe software come with a new serial number. If you are installing an upgrade version, then make sure you enter the upgrade serial number.
During the installation of an upgrade version, you may also need to enter the previous version serial number. If the Macromedia product installer does not accept the previous version serial number, then check to make sure the serial number matches one of the Macromedia serial number formats listed in "Sample serial number formats" (ServiceNote kb401377). If the format does not match, or if you continue to have difficulties, please contact Adobe Customer Service for assistance. Please be prepared to provide both the upgrade and previous version serial numbers, as well as your registration information.
